misanthrope 15 Posted December 12, 2012 Share Posted December 12, 2012 Late, but none of the songs have the appeal of Katy's Teenage Dream singles. Plus, Ke$ha lacks Katy's appeal to adult audiences. I totally disagree with this. They both equally have hit potential because they both generally have the same sound. If she plays her cards right she has Top 10 in the bag. The only difference between them is that Katy is prettier, Ke$ha turns some people off with her look But you don't need adult audiences for the type of music they make honestly. Yes, there are elements of the Dr. Luke production that are similar but overall they're quite distinct. If nothing else Katy doesn't do the white girl rap schtick like Kesha. Plus Britney only sold half of her last first week with her self titled album and no one said anything, because Britney's sales were still damn impressive. Both Katy and Ke$ha's main audience are teenagers. But Katy also has a strong adult audience (bigger than Gaga, Rihanna, Ke$ha, or any of the other pop divas except Adele) which gives her a much broader appeal than Ke$ha. If you are my age and listen to pop, you aren't cool. People my age love Macklemore, Skrillex, etc, not Katy of Kesha. They have a tween audience. Plus Britney only sold half of her last first week with her self titled album and no one said anything, because Britney's sales were still damn impressive. But Katy also has a strong adult audience (bigger than Gaga, Rihanna, Ke$ha, or any of the other pop divas except Adele) which gives her a much broader appeal than Ke$ha. Strictly comparing the tour audience, Gaga had such a huge variety of people it was crazy. All ages and demographic. Katy's almost all just teenage girls and their parents. We were joking because we felt so out of place haha. Some of my friends like her, but are more just casual fans. I just get the impression that the more hardcore fans are teenage girls.
