Why can't they pick something out for themselves?

I don't understand what the point in hiring someone to, for example, simply pick a dress for you to wear to an event

I don’t see the harm in it, it usually helps celebs look amazing most of the time. Hiring the right stylist will make people turn heads and get more attention:enigma:

I'm not a celebrity and I wish I could have a stylist. Maybe then I'd stop looking like I just stepped out of a meth den.

shame

some celebs are born without that inner gay voice telling them the right things to wear so they hire real people to make up for that deficiency

Stylist is not there only to say what looks good on them tho.. They literally do everything that has any relations to clothes. They are in contact with every major brand/designer and are carefully picking between thousands of pieces. They are responsible for clothes that were given to them and if anything happens to the clothes it’s their fault. They do much more than people think and it’s actually pretty hard to be someone’s stylist. You can have all the talent in the world that is required but if you can’t handle busy/frustrating/nerve wrecking tasks then it’s not for you..

Besides the obvious answers I think it's also because of time.

Okay. Imagine you have, oh, three things to do that day.

Let's say three interviews. All at three different places. The dress code for each place is different. And let's say you go Gaga and have different outfits to be scene when entering and exiting the studio. You need six outfits. And you want them to match whatever Aura you wanna point out.

Oh, and let's say you have a limited wardrobe because you rent most of your clothes from high end retailers. Or they give you things you have to wear.

Dressing yourself as a celebrity is far more stressful than when your a normal person.

Clothes have power. That was something heavily influenced by nobility and has continued to this day.

Often stylist will bring you tons of stuff to choose from. They know all the designers and spend the time curating looks and finding pieces they know their clients will like so the celebs don’t have to do it themselves.

Because they'd dress like this otherwise.

On topic, celebrities usually do have very busy schedules and stylist act as a middle man to the designer and celeb.
