shelby loved 384
Bernie said tonight on Maddow that Obama told Bernie last year that we wasn't going to chime in about the election until after the primary. This is an ad that uses words Obama has said about Sanders in the past, it's not a straight up endorsement video. It's airing in Florida and is apparently made to normalize Sanders and make him look like a viable choice to people who are afraid to vote beyond the Democratic establishment candidate (Biden). Honestly, I have mixed feeling about it. But it definitely stirs something in me and I can tell it's effective. The only thing I worry about is Obama saying something about it and making a new statement. đ

I dont think Obama would do that or be happy with this ad.. Itâs an old clip and old sound bytes. Bernie is pandering here. Told you he was like every other politician.  Obama did not endorse Bernie or anyone else. Heâs going to wait until there is a clear winner.

This looks like old bits glued together to make one ad  It's not technically dishonest because these were real statements that were made but it makes it appear like an endorsement when it wasnt  But whatever, politics is dirty like that and I guess Bernie to level the field ends up having to play politics too

That is qualitatively untrue. He is a very unique candidate. đ

PartySick 173,164
It's lowkey smart. I think even Biden voters know that a lot of his support is simply "well he was Obama's vp and Obama was cool so..." If Bernie could find a way to take that Barry wind out of Joe's sails then he might make up some ground. I'm not holding my breath though. Yeah he saved fhe economy but it only worked for the rich. W horrible trade deals and sending jobs off, it caused financial strain on many working class people bc their jobs were running away to China. They voted for Trump bc he ran as a fake populist that was gonna bring the jobs back. Ofc he lied, but he won so. Thatâs what Iâm referring too.  and it also explains the increase of racism. When societal financial restraint happens, people get desperate and are open to anything. It creates the perfect environment for an evil leader to convincingly tell a lot of people âitâs the otherâ that is causing all the problems.  Look up the Treaty of Versailles and how that created the perfect storm for Hitlerâs rise. Free trade was "born" long before Obama tho. As some journo said about the situation on twitter, you can't put that cat back in the bag as much as you might want to do so....at least with TPP, as sh*tty as it was, we could have had a stranglehold on China by blocking them out of the deal. I think people vastly overestimate what Bernie can do when it comes to trade if he gets elected..he's probably going to be trying to patch bullet wounds with band-aids like previous presidents. Frankly, if we're going to blame anyone...it should be Bush Sr. and Clinton for setting in motion so much free trade...Sure, economic unrest can contribute to racism but the level of impact is debatable..in fact there are debates over how much it can contribute. There are plenty of racist asf wealthy white folks...and Hillary actually beat Trump when it came to the white working class (which somehow gets let out of the narrative). Like I said, I'm actually for Bernie but it is so frustrating seeing his various surrogates like...completely miss the mark. He could have spun it as "as times change, politics should shift left....what was liberal/progressive 12 years ago is not enough in 2020...and while I think Biden means well, we can't remain in the past and we must evolve with the times." That's how Warren kind of spins it, and it's how she won over a lot of Hillary Clinton voters. It might not even be what he believes, but it would throw the moderates a bone....same with the ACA. We need universal, preferably single payer, health care. Obama was actually advocating for universal health care and said people should view the ACA as a building block but not the final solution...again, Bernie could have tossed the moderates/center left politicians (and even the leftist politicians) (not the public, in this case) who struggled to get the ACA passed by saying "the ACA got tens of millions insurance and did away with the pre-existing clause...it's a good first step from where we were 15 years ago, but still...just a first step. Now we need to take many more steps to eliminate private insurance and have universal health care." Some democrats absolutely did cozy up to insurance industry giants...but a lot of moderates lost their seats for voting for the ACA and medicaid expansion or barely hung on to their seats.....and I doubt they appreciate Bernie's surrogates insinuating they were all corrupt. And those moderates could have been great endorsements/surrogates for him to bridge the gap.
