Was Witness Too Political?

Katy stated that Witness would be a political album and ever since it’s release, she’s had no hits.

Were the albums political undertones too much for the GP? Or was it something else?

She also said PRISM was gonna be dark, so obviously something changed both times. Probably label interference

Honestly, I didn't see it as a very political album, I don't know why people kept talking about oh "Katy Perry isn't woke" like, like is this political?

'Cause I'm all that you want, boy
All that you can have, boy
Got me spread like a buffet
Bon appétit, baby
Appetite for seduction
Fresh out the oven
Melt in your mouth kind of lovin'
Bon appétit, baby

Well looks like I'm getting an F in English because I didn't detect much political undertone in that album except MAYBE Chained to The Rhythm.

'Cause I'm all that you want, boy
All that you can have, boy
Got me spread like a buffet
Bon appétit, baby

Where it at Katy?  :saladga:

While i appreciate her effort, her lack of commercial success doesn't have anything to do with Witness being political :ohwell:

It was not as risky as other albums which's messages were much more overwhelming (in fact, i can't remember any political message apart from CTTR MV).

Lemonade was political, Like A Prayer, Erotica, American Life were political, Born This Way, to an extent, was political. Witness if far from being a political pop album, despite Katy's intentions.

It's a pitty she's flopping tho, i like NRO and HiH's vibe. I'm here for a sound like that for KP5.

That's the excuse that her stans use to explain why it flopped, but only 1 song was even vaguely political. So they can have many seats.
