The difference lyrically between SL and, say, Perfect Illusion or Applause is pretty striking, though I wouldn't go as far as calling them dumb (maybe cheesy). It's a testament to how Gaga is feeling and what she's inspired by during the writing process of each album, so if she's feeling "cheesy" then so be it.
