I love the 2nd verse, particularly the line "I would battle for you (even if we break in two). The video was definitely meant to look the way it does, and that's her artistic interpretation of it. But I understand not everyone interpretes it the same way. Yes, I personally believe the concept is of dance. It reminds me a lot of Thriller, and the days when dancing was popular in videos. I think nowadays a lot of focus has been taken away from the choreography in music videos, and Gaga wanted to bring it back. It was one of the big aspects in the Bad Romance video. I don't believe it is underperforming. With the way the music industry is going, I believe she did very well for a dance pop song in a hip-hop dominant atmosphere. Stupid Love already has 60 million plays just on Spotify, and we have no numbers for Apple Music or Amazon Unlimited. ASIB had Shallow, with large tv promotion and a viral moment.
