One hand there's Corona preventing Gaga to do any kind of promo, and on the other she dropped a lead single that leaked 5 weeks prior to its release. Only her die hard and pop music fans who looked for it heard it. The song simply isn't one of her best leads. Obviously when they planned the album's release and associated promo, including the summer tour, they had no idea that it would end up being in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. This doesn't mean she's delaying the album – I actually don't think she is (no proof of this, purely a hunch) – but she might feel weird even doing online promo right now given what's happening, kind of like how she didn't mention her Grammy wins and instead Tweeted about Kobe. Also, she's probably scared like the rest of us, as we already know she faces anxiety and depression, and she's close with her family and can't be with them right now. A lot of people are in emotional triage right now. I'd love to see her channel all this uncertainty into promoting her new music, not because of charts or money, but because I truly believe it would be very healing to so many of us right now, especially given the album's theme of "dancing through pain." But again, she might find it tacky to take advantage of a crisis to promote her work. There are ways she could do it tastefully, and I hope she does because it would be a much-needed bright light, just like we see with all of the Instagram live performances put on by musicians. She could even do some sort of online performance to raise money to help the crisis. Maybe she and her team are reworking their original promo ideas into something like this, and it's taking a bit of time. Also, she also has to figure out what to do with her upcoming concerts, another wrench she didn't see coming. Chromatica Ball might still be okay, but there's no way her May shows are going on as planned (Brian already cancelled his). Even when we see her social media posts about playing cards with her friends, that doesn't mean she's just being frivolous and doesn't care – it might be a much-needed distraction from all the stress in her life. I know that my brain has turned into a wet noodle and my emotional health is very fragile right now, and it seems to be the case for many of us. (This post not directed at any specific user, just some thoughts about why things seem quiet on her end right now even though it's supposed to be the start of a new era.)
