Stupid Love was an homage and supposed to look like late 90's early 2000's Power Rangers television episodes which is the aesthetic they wanted. Cheap, fun and campy. I would still consider the Paper Magazine shoot to be "Chromatica visuals" even if she wasn't the dominant force on every part of it. Like, would you not consider any other shoot she's done for any other era part of those era's "visuals"? Cause if not, you're leaving out a gigantic chunk of stuff. I’m not saying that either, but the execution of the visuals is the work of the photographer. The imagery and symbolism in the photos I’m sure Gaga had input on. I mean if you are going to do camp/90's and your inspiration is power rangers you really should go overboard in my opinion to make it obvious that the campiness and the cheapness is on purpose. I don't think that was achieved and the feedback that I got from people outside of gaga's base was that it was disappointing in that way. My opinion is just that when you go camp you should exagerate at least to the point that it's pretty clear that you are in on the joke, in SL case it really looks half baked. I feel like glimpsers of what could have been a well-though out execution of this aesthethic can be seen in the random bits that appear and also in the Stupid Love logo/Chromatica logo on the bottom right, but it just wasn't, it feels like they maybe had a good concept but didn't take it all the way. I get that the execution of the visuals were done by the photographer, but her music videos (most of them) were directed by other people who executed their own vision, in combination with Gaga. The same thing goes for the photographers. Gaga's always described herself as a "muse", so it's really the photographers'/directors' work with her input and likeness. If you're going to say that this shoot was mostly the photographer, then you have to say that about most other shoots. We're less than a month away + postponing it to May 1st makes ZERO sense. The situation is going to be the same then, as it is now and on the 10th.
