Where Is The Love The modern classic Empire State Of Mind could maybe be described as this too. Lots of us class Gypsy, You and I and even The Edge Of Glory as being ballads of sorts

A Ballad is generally a narrative set to music. That is to say, it’s a story song (ballads were often sung by wandering minstrels) In music, a power ballad is basically one in which the singer reaches a high level of dynamics and emotional power. One could classify Gypsy as an upbeat power ballad because it tells the story of Gaga and her lover embarking on a journey together, away from home. It even has storytelling elements like the Yellow Brick Road from Oz, or "chasing the sunset", etc. Hope that helped.

Ballads are generally melodic enough to get the listener's attention. Sentimental ballads are found in most music genres, such as pop, R&B, soul, country, folk, rock and electronic music.Usually slow in tempo, ballads tend to have a lush musical arrangement which emphasize the song's melody and harmonies. Characteristically, ballads use acoustic instruments such as guitars, pianos, saxophones, and sometimes an orchestral set. Many modern mainstream ballads tend to feature synthesizers, drum machines and even, to some extent, a dance rhythm. Sentimental ballads had their origins in the early Tin Pan Alley music industry of the later 19th century.[5] Initially known as "tear-jerkers" or "drawing-room ballads", they were generally sentimental, narrative, strophic songs published separately or as part of an opera, descendants perhaps of broadside ballads. As new genres of music began to emerge in the early 20th century, their popularity faded, but the association with sentimentality led to the term ballad being used for a slow love song from the 1950s onwards.[6] so yes, even though a lot of ballad today have a slow tempo and they are generally associated with it, they can be of every genre and tempo The edge of Glory is a ballad, Abba the Winner takes it All is the very definition of a Ballad, even if quite uptempo I'm a real Fire CRRRACKERRR
