So while the world may not see you in private, they will see what you are casting out into the world about yourself. There's a lot of anxiety when it comes to creating for many artists because it can be seemingly so revealing about ourselves and a lot of times the most interesting and human we get in our work is when it is something so private being turned into a form of art. There is a huge amount to ARTPOP lyrically and it is one of her most thoughtful and SPECIFIC songs. It is definitely not a situation or mentality everyone in the world has to deal with. But if you have ever been through it you know just how much these things weigh on you and can cause writers block, stress, anxiety and so much more. So in the end ARTPOP is a song about essentially about killing those feelings that you are somehow selling yourself out because you are making a living off your art and surrendering to the fact that your art will always be very intertwined to your personal being - even if you do have to cast it out to the rest of the world.
