Not liking our faves trademark. Can't relate. I've always classed it as a studio version because it's a studio recording ahhh you mean polished up "studio version"? Ahh yeah me too I want that I Want To Be Free, Forever Baby..

I connect with the song. I’m a musician myself and I always find inspiration in the song and what she’s saying. I find it’s so easy to get lost in that track. I do relate as an artist to what that song is When it’s dark outside you’re always the light

It's literally one of the few songs that has ever truly resonated with me. It's really a song about a few things. So one side of it is the struggle of being creating your art but also doing it in a way that is profitable and livable - hence Art and Pop making ARTPOP. It's Art first but is also intended to be pop. "The color pallet you choose can profit you" "Could try to sell you out or I could show you all the reasons why" that part is all about how you CAN create and it CAN be profitable to you without "selling out" or changing the fundamentals of it and why you are making it. The other half is the struggle of having to deal with the fact that when you create you put a lot of your private life out into the world "lovers kites are flown on beaches for public sight" being a strong line to this point. So while the world may not see you in private, they will see what you are casting out into the world about yourself. There's a lot of anxiety when it comes to creating for many artists because it can be seemingly so revealing about ourselves and a lot of times the most interesting and human we get in our work is when it is something so private being turned into a form of art. There is a huge amount to ARTPOP lyrically and it is one of her most thoughtful and SPECIFIC songs. It is definitely not a situation or mentality everyone in the world has to deal with. But if you have ever been through it you know just how much these things weigh on you and can cause writers block, stress, anxiety and so much more. So in the end ARTPOP is a song about essentially about killing those feelings that you are somehow selling yourself out because you are making a living off your art and surrendering to the fact that your art will always be very intertwined to your personal being - even if you do have to cast it out to the rest of the world.
