Some could be thinking of a postponed release 'cos they're chart-obsessed, yes, but I kinda disagree with this statement: many fans just like to physically own the work of their fave on day one, and this absurd situation will prevent this habit from becoming reality.

Sometimes it's just as simple as that, or at least I like to think so :selena:

Ok but Beyoncé, or streaming in general, wasn’t that big as it is now when she released her self-titled album unannounced. Also, Amazon, target and other places are still shipping the albums out. It’s a matter of simply not being able to PHYSICALLY walk into a store and buy the album. Can’t believe we continue to have this convo. I’m not saying it’s impossible to get delayed but everyday it isn’t announced, the less likely it seems. Especially with people from her own team hyping the album on social media. Dua just announced a damn magazine cover for god sake. Smart people will realize certain businesses can thrive during this mayhem, and music is one of them. Businesses will capitalize on this.

Actually I don't think those saying the album should be postponed are making a dumb suggestion at all. They mostly care about charts, and giving The Weeknd as an example is just helping their argument because Gaga is not a streaming force like him, she relies a lot on physical sales!

THAT being said idc about all that  :huntyga:  she could do 10 units in the whole world for all I care, I just want something to shake my *ss to in these depressing days :huntyga:

besides when everything hopefully goes back to normal, she can keep promoting the album (longevity >>>>> amazing debut then ⬇️)

You and many others before said this and I agree with you. You and many others before you at the same time always ommitted one person in this - Gaga herself.

People are either interested in charts or in their need to listen to the album. Somehow, they always forget to mention the person who created the album, who cares about it, who loves it and who may very well be sad and depressed with what’s going on. She said she wanted to make people dance and to introduce Chromatica to as many people as possible. It’s not going to happen anytime soon, even if the album is released April 10th.

Ok but that isn’t really a confirmation. They said the same thing for Chromatica in the PM interview. For me personally, unless Gaga or Dua comes out and says “Hey guys, my album is still coming out on the scheduled release date, it’s not getting pushed back”, I’m remaining neutral. I hope they both come out on their scheduled days though.

And I completely agree with what you're saying right now! That post of mine was a disagreement about a chart obsession being the sole reason some fans are looking for a postponed release date

Maybe I should have expressed myself better, sorry the misunderstanding :selena:

The fact that we’re so close to the albums’ release and that there’s No info, no promo single, not even IG posts with hashtags about SL or Chromatica, means they’re def thinking what to do and how to do it imo.

DEBUNKING RUMORS - "Physical sales are Gaga's biggest strength"

No, they're not. People, we are in 2020. Music consumption has changed dramatically. The concept of album sales is dead nowadays. Why do you think so many artists do tour bundles nowadays (including Gaga with Chromatica)? Because physical sales are nonexistent these days, and bundles can only mask that in week one. Most of the CDs are nowadays are being bought through the internet anyway. When was the last time you went to a store and bought a CD (that was not Gaga)? Exactly.

Now I'm coming with some receipts as well. A Star is Born debuted with 231,000 SPS units, and 162,000 album sales. Breaking down the sales, we have:

Digital downloads - 118,000 (73% from the overall album sales)
CDs - 42,000 (26% from the overall album sales, 18% from the total SPS)
Vinyl LPs - 2,000

After the Oscars week, A Star Is Born returned to #1 with 129,000 SPS units, and 77,000 album sales. Breaking down the sales again, we have:

Digital downloads - 50,000 (65% from the overall album sales)
CDs and Vinyl LPs - 27,000 (35% from the overall album sales, 21% from the total SPS)

As you can see, Gaga's strongest strength is actually in the digital downloads, and a lack of physical copies of Chromatica won't hurt her sales as much as people want to make it look here. Case closed.

I'd say no news is good news. If they're postponing an album they'd announce it as soon as possible.

I mean, there's stores that keep delivering stuff to your place. I just ordered the new Animal Crossing and I'm getting it in 3 days lol.

“No info” is a bit much. We got PAPER less than a week ago and that had a lot of juicy details. I do agree they’re probably in crisis mode. I just hope they’re thinking of inventive ways to promote. Do webcams with talk shows hosts. IG live concert. Maybe they have another Gagavision? Start teasing Ari Collab as everyone is glued to their phones and social media right now. I hope that’s the kind of planning they’re doing. I’ve seen so many artists doing little concerts from their homes. I wish she would do something like this. :ally:

In my opinion, it would be difficult to postpone her music or future shows with upcoming dates because we just don't know what's going to happen. If there is a delay, it's going to be longer than just a few weeks or a month.....things will be worse by then.  My guess is Gaga probably wants to keep the release the way it is, but everyone around her wants a delay.

The PAPER mag was planned and done wayback, not releasing it would be pointless, although I agree that the fact they didnt cut the release date, may indicate something.

And yes, I’ve meant her lack of activity. I guess in two-four days max we have to learn what’s going on and what will they do.
