If it were on Fearless this song would be rated higher. @klaus Accidentally typed 11 for the score but let's not mind that... It's just a draining track... it's like after you get lit with Haunted with people in a room and then there's just this little fvcker that enters in and sucks the life out of everybody... and that little fvcker is Last Kiss. It's beautifully written and the lachrymose vocals in the verses and chorus just fvcking pulls me in and never lets me go until I shed a tear, and as the bridge thunders in it leaves my tears spilling like an overflowing sink and then physically makes my heart bleed until I hear the blood actually dripping and it just... that's the emotion when I go through Last Kiss. #ForeverAndAlways (And the fact that when you speed the instrumentals up, you get the instrumentals for Lover, that just mends my heart... and the cinematic parallels between the lines "And I feel you forget me like I used to feel you breathe" from this song because of Joe to "Now I wake up in the night and watch you breathe" with another Joe on Paper Rings (Lover, track 8)... One of the two misfires on the album. @klaus I love this country twang song, it's extraordinary and relatable. Even though I don't frequently listen to it, or skip, because after what Dear John caused, I just don't feel like tapping my shoes to this great invigorating track. It's one of her best singles, definitely, and has the great unforgettable bridge of "All you are is mean, and a liar, and pathetic, and alone in life, and mean, and mean, and mean, and mean, and mean, and mean..." ...also, I need a Bad Blood/Mean rock version mashup of this...
