I wish she'd talk about this more instead of doing little publicity things like this. Hell, make a documentary about this problem of getting women in tech roles in the film industry financed. We should remain as a meritocracy as opposed to be a society that rewards you because you happened to be born a specific gender or race or sexual identity. I'm pretty sure Portman is passionate about this matter and is doing what she can. Changes can't just happen overnight, we're not suddenly going to have 50% of female directors on the market. It did cross my mind though that the best protest would be to actually not attend the Oscars: it's been 2 years in a row Natalie has shaded the ceremony, at this point I don't even know why they're still inviting her and why she's still going. Patty Jenkins is the main one at the moment after Wonder Woman and rumour is she’s gonna do Gotham City Sirens after Wonder Woman 2, Melina Matsoukas whom Gaga has worked with before still makes award winning music videos and she’s done films too, Niki Caro is making the live action Mulan which is highly anticipated, Cathy Yan just did Birds of Prey and Kathryn Bigelow is the only woman to ever win Best Director in Oscar History but that’s because she directed a “manly” film The Hurt Locker.
