Chromaticunt 5,529
I was such a massive fan of Buffy growing up. It still holds a place in my heart but honestly I watched it so many times, I can't sit through a single episode anymore because I just know it back to front so what's the point! Whatever happened to the spin-off/reboot series?? I guess any kind of development will be halted this year because of Miss Rona. I'd love to see a spin-off with more diversity (how great would it be to see a black slayer or even a trans slayer?!), but I hope it's not a straight-up remake with the same characters but different actors. Buffy was specific to its time and it wouldn't work in 2020, it needs to be new characters and new stories.

Without watching Angel, you'd have no idea how Faith ended up in jail. No idea what she is talking about regarding being in Angels mind. No idea who Andrew is talking about in regards to Fred. Etc. I should've clarified I meant a lead character as a black slayer, I didn't forget about those ones. Kendra and Nikki were awesome.

And I'm not trying to be insensitive or anything but idk how it would logically work for a trans Slayer, since Slayers are female and trans people at birth are not physically female. If they could do it in a way that made sense, sure why not!
Rio 5,088
I watched the first three seasons. Pushed through a lot of it. I didn't find it that great, and I can see why top industry award shows paid it dust. Questionable acting, terrible SFX, campy, and too light hearted in a way. It was good, I didn't necessarily hate it, I've watched worse, and I can see why it was so big. Just couldn't get in to it, I'm used to shows like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, Better Call Saul, OITNB, Orphan Black and Lost. The campest show I watch is Grace & Frankie 😫 it's just me It's a cult classic and holds so much nostalgic value for many of its fans too. I'll probably finish it off in the future when I'm bored and fall in love with it.

I gave Buffy more chance than other shows and I slowly stopped watching it by the end of S3. The shows I watch win well deserved prestigious industry awards, they're not repetitive and offer something I find much more substantial, thought-provoking and entertaining. Sorry if the opinion provoked, again, I recognise the culutural impact Buffy had 🙏🏼🖤

You have to understand Buffy aired in a smaller network and is a genre show. You are comparing it to shows set decades after with bigger production. But even the GoT ending where a main character stabs another main character was executed better by Buffy. Flyin' like a 1000 Doves

The way it served trash final season and people stopped talking about it almost overnight. Its pop culture impact and influence of 10 years vanished practically as soon as it ended because people were so thrown off by it. Whereas Buffy is still getting references and homages more than 2 decades after. Flyin' like a 1000 Doves

Also I don't see why there couldn't be a trans slayer. The legend never said anything about being physically female at birth. I think it'd be a great message to say that trans women are included. Whereas Buffy is still getting references and homages more than 2 decades after. I know it's not the only metric but often, truly good shows pick up the award acclaim. As for big budgets, I didn't once mention that, it's not something I particularly care about. I started watching Thrones after S4 debuted. GoT had more pop cultural impact than Buffy, it was everywhere. Buffy had a lot of fans back in the day & has a cult classic feel to it; it's not on the same pop cultural level as GoT. That show served for seven straight seasons (even S8 had its good moments), with actual acting and good storytelling. Don't care about budgets. I discussed Buffy with my own opinion and experience, not here to pit shows against each other. Wasn't my actual intention honest, was just giving examples of shows I watch in my OP. My point was despite being a smaller show, it has served longevity and influenced a lot of shows after it finished airing. cjdamien 198
Omg I am so happy!!! This show literally saved my life. I have watched every episode at least 20 times - I inadvertently quote the show daily. My favorite seasons are 2, 5, 6, and 7. I loved the ending so much. I missed it airing because I was in boot camp and I watched it all on recoded vhs tapes on a portable tv in my mom’s suburban and cried the whole time. I’m finally getting around to reading all the comic seasons - on season 10 now - and I’m looking forward to reading the new comic reboots. I’m not sure I would like a reboot of the show but there was talk of making a show about another Slayer instead of a reboot. I would be here for that, especially if they did it like Sabrina as someone else mentioned. I would kill for a Fray series too.
