Yet you co-signed a response about social media likes  and followers then go on to talk about Beyoncé who actually has even more than Shakira? What's up with that lol.

No, I'm just showing you the absurdity of the figures everyone is throwing out of nowhere.

A chart peak means nothing. Perfect Illusion was #1 in France with 3k copies sold then faded into oblivion. It was a complete flop. On the other hand you have artists like Sia or Shakira not charting high but staying on the charts and radio for weeks and weeks and weeks. So who's the most relevant ? The quick #1 that nobody remember or the song that has been played for 4 months?

Not YOU of all people calling me out by saying: “how you missed that difference in their approach is beyond me.”

The artists I mentioned pushed boundaries and felt the need to use their voice to fix this issue. The issue that woman are not allowed to use their sexuality, or only in the way other people want them to use it. It’s their body and they can do whatever they want with it. So if that includes harmless ass-shaking, then that’s okay. Why are we not allowed to applause that? And who are you to say that’s not the correct way of expressing your sexuality?

Gaga and Xtina both tweeted how much they liked the show. They would be embarrassed to see you praise them, but tear Shakira and Jennifer down for acting like a “wh*re”. You obviously missed the whole point of their songs, interviews, speeches etc.

I'm so tired of seeing people type me this "common sense" when they do NOTHING about hundreds of members routinely taking a dump on artists like Beyoncé and Madonna with sexist/ageist bs on this very forum. Again: I can't count the amount of posts slandering Beyoncé as someone who just "shakes her ass" and has no talent, not to mention the almost standard "Madonna you're too old to sing about sex" hate encountered here daily.

Everyone is allowed to do whatever they want and applaud whatever they want. I regret saying that people should be ashamed for "swallowing this kind of entertainment". That was wrong. But there's nothing wrong with saying that there are more interesting ways to explore female sexuality than have a rapper touch your ass on national television. That's not hate on JLO or that rapper, that's just an opinion and a wish for intelligent engagement with complicated issues.

Clearly this isn't the place for that :ladyhaha:

It is. When you get paid like $1 million to make one Instagram post, likes and followers have everything to do with commercial success.

And JLo is bigger than Beyonce.

J.Lo is bigger than Beyoncé? LMFAO. Is that why Beyoncé's Lemonade sold 1.5 million outside of the US while J.Lo's TOTAL album sales for the last decade doesn't even reach 1 million? :ladyhaha:

Stop it. She's not.

Listen, Shakira is played a lot where you live. Shakira's last hit was back in 2010 where I live. I think we've established that. Shakira is a flop in the US, Australia and parts of Europe and she's a relevant superstar in Latin America, the Middle East and parts of Europe.

But saying "the US is not the only country in the world blah blah blah" that some us as an excuse to Shakira still being relevant WW can be used here as well: Latin America and parts of Europe ain't the entire world either :staymad:

I'm so sorry for challenging heteronormative mass entertainment.

What's more heteronormative than a man calling women wh*res and then trying to justify his statement.

But, who remember it nowadays?

And her last WW hit was...? Single Ladies? Halo? (I mean, outside US), don't get me wrong, I love her and she's an acclamaid artist and an ICON, but let's be realistic :enigma:

Shakira and JLO have had at least more than 2 WW hits since "I Am Sasha Fierce..."

Calling JLO getting her ass touched by some rapper "empowering".

And again, I didn't call them wh-res. I said they were objectifying themselves without irony. Aka acting like a wh-re (which again, nothing wrong with that, just not interesting).

When did they ever do the same thing though? They never tried to be "regular sexy". Luckily they have bigger dreams than that.

THIS.

Just because she have flopped in the US lately, doesn't mean she's not longer successful (or relevant)...

But I guess some people think that US is the only important music market :gum:

What's wrong with being "regular sexy"? What even is that? Do you even know much about both Shakira and J.Lo, and their brands? To be honest, It appears as if you are someone who doesn't know much about either, and is supporting their opinion purely based on the halftime show, which makes your points challenging them as artists (such as this one) completely irrelevant.
