It's Madonna's Queen complex. And her fans developed it too. This throne she has been sitting on for 30 years and nobody wants to take away from her but her fans were and still are terrified of Gaga because no one can deny the shift there was when Gaga came out in 2008, it coincided with Madonna's downfall...

I think the media helped a lot with this "Queen of Pop" title but I don't think Madonna had a downfall either... the girl is in the business for 30+ years, that's more than much of past singers careers combined, that's saying something.

I just think the next generation usually goes for the newer thing (and even with that she managed to keep up with the digital age). Of course she won't have the same impact as before and that's ok.

She's still making living out of her music and living fully at 61 years old!!!! I doubt this fans who try to clock her age will be as healthy as she is now.

Why even start dude? Like why? It’s been discussed to death here. No need for it.

Because I genuinely wanna know why does this hypocrisy still exists and prominent in 2020. I don’t have the time for drama please I just want an open and civil discussion and GGD should know better.

True I remember madonna writing the caption "finally kissing the ring" under the pic of her and gaga back in 2015 which is a reference to people admitting the royal power of one person and swearing they won't contest it and try to get the royal throne.

She also said she love the fact there was "all these pop princess" while being asked about swift while I'm sure she doesn't consider one of them so I let you guess which place she gives to herself lol.

She really has a queen complex, these BS titles seem to matter for her.

Madonna literally asked her son Rocco in a documentary "Who's the Queen?" or something like that. I think it's in "I'm Going To Tell You A Secret". It's not just the media. Madonna has made the 'Queen of Pop' thing very much part of her brand. The thrones on tour, Nicki Minaj reminding us that there's only one Queen and that's Madonna (yawn...) etc.  Which is OK, to be honest. To each their own.

Madonna's 'downfall' came after a huge era ('Confessions'), and coincided with Gaga's rise to fame. The two things happened at the same time and no one said Madonna ever became irrelevant or that she was replaced or whatever. But there's no denying that a lot of more casual Madonna listeners took a liking to Gaga when she initially debuted. With casual Madonna listeners I mean the gays. :ladyhaha:

I am 35, I have grown up with Madonna. I have seen the woman evolve and change and have watched countless interviews. I know her public persona.

Yes, definitely. She is from a different generation of divas, when being a bitch and treading on other people's toes were a thing. She had feuds with almost every other peer (Janet, Mariah, Cher...). The Queen Of Pop title clearly meant something to her (and as a consequence, to her fans), so to see it being used so often for someone else (Gaga) must have infuriated them.

Because some Madge stans (not generalizing) and some Gaga stans don't understand that the EY/BTW drama was a marketing strategy

Didymus

No one (important) called Gaga a copycat in the early days :smh: Even Katy said "she's like Madonna but better" when she met her. If anything a lot of people praised Gaga for taking what Madonna did in her career and amping it up with her vocal talent :rip:

This whole Gaga abuse scenario was invented by LMs to paint Gaga as a victim as soon as she was actually called out for the very first time in her career (on a relevant scale) when she released BTW. As soon as that debacle was over, people forgot about the incident again. Literally no one cares about this Gaga vs. Madonna theme outside of fan forums.
