lgsbchac 273
My expectations were pretty low because before I got around to listening to it I read some negative opinions on twitter. But damn I absolutely loved it when I finally listened. Not one track I didn't enjoy.
TheFriend 1,974
Just finished listening to the album except Summer. I'm bopping so much to Honey. That, and Raising Hell, Tonight, Chasing Thunder are my top songs from the album.
huttont 5,346
My favorites are Raising Hell, High Road, Shadow, Cowboy Blues, A Little Bit of Love, Birthday Suit, Kinky, Father Daughter Dance, ugh they’re all good. The only ones I don’t care for are Honey and Chasing Thunder.
andreas85 400
This is surpisingly good album, I really didn't know what to expect but it sounds fresh, exciting, and original. I didn't like the first two tracks, for example, Tonight was somehow too loud and My Own Dance is kinda messy but other than that it's a quite solid album and good start for 2020. JustJames 997
Not sure anyone is going to see this since I am late to the review party, but I absolutely FELL IN LOVE with Kesha after she released "Rainbow." IMO, the fact that the media and pop fanbase at large dismisses her earlier music as lacking substance only adds to the abuse under which she was working under. I don't think fans do it purposely, but I wouldn't be surprised if the reason we hear SO much about "Kesha going to back to her roots," and/or that earlier releases like "Animal/Cannibal/Warrior" were so vapid is the industry's way of telling her+us that the only viable Kesha is a puppet who gets credit for little more than a manufactured 'party girl' persona and not for the unique and beautiful singer, songwriter, and HUMAN displayed most heavily on "Rainbow," but evident throughout her canon. The 2020 music scene is in dire need of some FUN. When I listen to Top 40 radio, I want to hear contagious melodies, catchy lyrics, and banging choruses. There is *no* reason that Kesha should be struggling to grab a Top 10 hit; it was songs like "Godzilla," "Hymn," and "Hunt You Down" from "Rainbow" that caught my attention and made me realize what a freakin' genius she is for being able to connect with her fans' serious emotions and issues using relateable metaphors and imagery. "High Road" is less of a journey than "Rainbow," for sure. It makes total sense as a followup record; 'My Own Dance' slaps so hard because she was so raw on "Rainbow." Lyrics that may otherwise sound strange / a MV that would seem like nonsense are exactly what the song says: f*cking everything. Kesha, and this album, make me laugh, smile, and sing like pop music should do. I am so glad she is sticking to her roots - not the 'party girl' roots that the media shoves down our throats. The 'roots' of a girl who is quirky, who can write songs like fire, and who is able to turn her insecurities into art. This is A+ pop music. 'Raising Hell,' 'My Own Dance,' 'Kinky,' and 'Little Bit of Love' should be smashing as singles. I wonder if one of her problems is trying to fit so many of her fun ideas into the new norm of under 3:00? The slurring chorus and 'b*tch we goin out tonight' of 'Tonight' and Mario theme song of 'Birthday Suit' could have been fun portions within longer, ~4:00 singles. But, instead, many of the songs come across as unfocused and unpolished.
K-Mail 405
It took me some time to get to it but I really like the album. I listened to some old Kesha for the bops back in the day but she totally won me over with Rainbow. I find High Road to be a mix of her old stuff and Rainbow which is nice but I kinda expected more. Still, a very good album imo. Also, while I'm here, lemme share a drawing I just finished inspired by High Road

The candle was especially tricky with the gradient coloring and all the detailed shading but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out

crybrowz 3,313
Just listened to Big Bad Wolf. The fact that she didn't include it on the main album is just She did the same thing with Emotional, idg why she chooses some of the best songs to make the Japanese bonus tracks.
