Fan culture has changed since I had the energy to be fully immersed in it like you guys have been. Back in the day - I was a huge boyband fan (what would now be called a “stan”). We hung out on message boards and posted pics and discussed the latest news. But no body like melted down over anything or did conspiracy theories. But it was also the late 90s and no social media, so we didn’t feel as connected? Or we were just a bunch of boring straight white b*tches that wanted to f*ck lead singers of horrible boy bands. Spoiler there's more details I forget but in college we had carried my friend out to the school quad, onto a tarp.
