It's funny getting lectures about "nuance" and "unity" from people who have previously never expressed an interest in either. (Horus literally stole my point about nuance from a previous political thread, but I'll let it slide because I know this stuff is hard.) I'll recall the 12% of Bernie Bros who voted for the more conservative (and bigoted and racist and sexist and xenophobic) candidate in 2016 out of spite. That's excluding all of them who voted for third-party candidates who weren't even viable. Yay, unity?

One final moment of hypocrisy: they criticized Biden for going on The View because they just "parrot his talking points." But then they also laugh at him for trying to get on Joe Rogan's podcast despite the fact that Rogan decidedly does not parrot him. It's amazing how some people can just never win.

I don't mind all the LMAO reactions because they expose the hivemind that has completely taken over the  Far Left - but social media trolling doesn't earn votes.

Can you stop pushing the Bernie Bro narrative? It’s pretty bad to invisibilize his non-white, LGBT, and female supporters. There are many of them. Stop pushing the narrative that all Bernie supporters are toxic, straight, white, and young men. I think people took it as an endorsement video (because he does talk about how he's probably going to vote for Bernie) but I think the more important part was someone who doesn't agree with Bernie on all the issues believes in Bernie, in his earnest to bring about change to the country and that's why he is probably going to vote for him. 

If you took Joe from the equation, people would say it was a positive ad. You put Joe in it and all of a sudden all of woke twitter is saying that Joe should be denounced. That's the problem. The fact that despite Joe's problamatic statements in the past, the fact he wants to vote for somebody progressive like Bernie because he trusts him isn't inherently evil like woke twitter would like everybody to believe. 

Yes, Ezra Klein was right for once  Bernie's authenticity, ability, and not only willingness, but drive to speak to people's actual material issues and needs and wants is a Universally appealing quality, made even more apparent in an era of deep dissatisfaction with establishment politics and politics in general  

There's a reason things like M4A, Free Public College, cancelling student debt and medical debt, a Green New Deal/Climate Change action, taxing the wealthy all have over 50% of support from Republicans... It's because Establishment politics has hurt EVERYONE - even racist white people have medical bills and want their kids to be able to go college, or go to college themselves  

The idea that establishment democrats don't court approval from people they disagree with on is also just like... a huge myth. Obama didn't get to be at near 70% approval at time of his inauguration, let alone win his election by ONLY appealing to Democrats about Democratic issues. I think its a sign of maturity to say "I believe in this issue and I will fight for it. I want everyone on my side, but I won't compromise my values in the process"

To me, this is a scathing example of the way that many many liberals, especially establishment media pundits, are ABSOLUTELY out of touch with the average American. The "centrist" they think they are describing, someone who is 'socially liberal, economically conservative" doesn't actually exist. Most people in this country who either don't vote, rarely vote, or are not especially committed to one party are Joe Rogan esque types. It is an unfortunate truth. As much as I wish the wokeness of social justice on the internet was how the entire world worked (sort of), we aren't there yet culturally at all, even though we have made huge strides in the last decade alone. 

As a result, the average "centrist" is much more likely to be a Joe Rogan type of person - someone with some deeply problematic views on some issues, but still votes Democrat if they vote at all, and someone who ultimately doesn't care about identity politics, whether its because of their white privilege or some other reason. The country is not where pundits on MSNBC are, or where writers for the New York Times are. In fact, more people watch/listen to Joe Rogan than people who read the New York Times, and his viewership/listening base rivals mainstream television, he's actually ridiculously popular  

 

So, in that sense, I can understand that this couldve just been "oh wow, a huge media figure basically endorsed, lets just post it" because the video is basically just a quickly made forwarding of his comments that anyone could've put together in 30 minutes or less, not an official endorsement (imagine if he ends up endorsing Yang instead lmfao) though I do wish it had been done cleaner or just not touched at all.

The swing voters are economically liberal and socially conservative & it’s why the pundits always get it wrong. Also love this entire post!
