lgsbchac 273
I went to her Enigma show on December 30th and Jazz and Piano show December 31st and there was nothing messy or strained. I've seen her several times before and she was just as amazing as always. What I did notice was that hearing it live didn't compare at all to the videos I've seen. And I actually paid attention to her voice this time since I've seen people talk about the "straining" and **** but that honestly just wasn't the case. I get the worries, e.g. I'm not a fan of her smoking either (just because I don't like cigarettes in general) but be careful in your judgement of poor quality videos (aka anything that isn't a professional recording) and also remember that she is surrounded by a team that takes care of her and makes sure she stays as healthy as possible. And also be careful whose opinion you trust on this. People hear what they try/want to hear but if they're not experts, chances are their opinions ain't that credible. Alphaz 7,956
That's why she better release more music while she still can. I don't mind there is no promo. I just want new music.

I was at the Enigma show on December 30th too and she sounded noticeably strained compared to the shows I saw in February and October. I'm not saying she's over or anything but pain, recording an album, and dealing with breakups is taking a toll on her voice and I hope she's cognizant of that. MOT 3,076
I'm one of those who posted on here expressing concern about Gaga's voice (based on youtube footage rather than hearing her live), and I was challenged to provide evidence for my suggestion that she was mangling her words. What I meant by mangling was that she was mispronouncing words or breaking them up in order to mask the fact that she couldn't hit the note. So off I went in search of my evidence, and I found it, but on listening to it again I revised my opinion. Three reasons for that 1. I was comparing her Jazz & Piano singing with her singing of, for example, the National Anthem, but nobody is going to sing jazz the same way they sing the National Anthem. They just ain't the same thing. So maybe what I was describing as mangling was just a different style. 2. The sound quality of the Vegas performances on youtube is poor. Those clips are not a reliable basis on which to form a judgement. 3. My admiration for Gaga in the first place is largely based, not on concert performances, but on a bunch of professionally-recorded one-off performances on youtube where she just has to come on for 5 mins, blow the roof off and then go home (or wherever). I suspect that it is unrealistic to expect any singer to do a series of 2-hour shows and sound consistently at their best.
