I am sick of seeing posts about Australia and absolutely ZERO has been done to help. It breaks my heart to see Australia like this, and yet the leaders of this world want to start a war rather than helping out Australia. We should be sending aid, water and supplies, and we should be protecting the remaining wildlife while we can.

I don't have money to adopt or donate, but our world leaders do. I am sick of it.

I don't feel bad for australian people tbh. They'll be fine. Plus they have a collective responsibility in what's happening. Australia is the 2nd biggest polluter in the world per capita, only behind the United States.

I feel bad for the animals who are suffering as a result of our stupidity.

Honestly we as a human race deserve to be extinct. We ****ed up the planet so hard. Maybe there will be a new race that'll be better and wiser than us.

Don’t cry, take action.  Save the millions of animals who still have a chance.

We have to direct this at the world leaders. They want to start a war rather than helping Australia

But if our world leaders could come together rather than trying to start a war, we would get on much better. The Australian forests and wildlife are an important asset to the world for many different reason. Even if people contributed to climate change, we mustn't just sit back and watch a country burn like that. We could take action and help put out these fires and save the wildlife. But the biggest world leaders aren't doing anything

That's not completely fair to say, tho. Yes the Australian government and a large part of the population has responsibility over the issues that are plaguing their country but there's a huge amount of lower class people (most of whom have a very low carbon footprint) who lose their homes and even their lives because of those issues and they're given as much priority as the animals in those situations, which is to say: no priority at all.

And these people who lose their homes have the chance to make a change happen by demanding reforms that limit pollution. Learn the lesson and mobilize.

Animals though? They're burnt alive! Literally! Koalas are found all over the forests burnt alive. That's more heart breaking than losing your home.

I'm not saying it isn't horrible what's happening to all these animals. It's appalling, it really is and we all have a duty to demand better regulations and action from our governments but two wrongs don't make a right and to be apathetic towards humans who suffer because of those situations simply isn't effective.

Demanding action and actually getting it are two different things and there's plenty of lower class Australian citizens mobilizing and demanding that something be done for their sake and the sake of all the animal population that got massacred.

It's still in the government and major corporations' best interest to not have these regulations be installed and upper class people simply aren't affected by it so naturally they don't give a sh*t. These are the ones who we can't be nice to but the average person is hardly at fault for their greed and disregard for all lifeforms, if anything they're on the receiving end of their cruelty and soon will be as much of a victim as those animals who perished.

Good news about most Australian forests is that they're very well adapted to fire and will bounce back. Different situation than if they were destroyed for development.

Now I just hope that when the forests do recover that koala conservation is taken more seriously and aren't put under more pressure than they are already against development, disease and dogs. I don't think they'll go extinct as long as that happens but now they need a chance for their population to recover more than ever.

Do you feel him sir?

Too bad the Australian forests were being heavily cleared to make room to raise grass-fed beef.

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) reported : “Eastern Australia deforestation pressures: Pasture creation for livestock is the dominant driver, accounting for 88 per cent of clearing of both primary and secondary forests and woodlands.”

OMG it's so sad to read :(

Australia will never be the same.

and it was such a beautiful place

I got back from Australia a few days ago, and the WHOLE country was covered in smoke, I visited a friend in Canberra and like you could barely see your hand in front of your face it was INSANE

I have never seen it this bad, and I lived through Black Saturday fires, and I thought that was bad

I hope I am misunderstanding you, or overreacting

we have been complaining about climate change for YEARS and politicians still do nothing about it

hundreds have died and I know several people who have lost their houses

entire cities are being wiped out

blame the Australian politicians, not the people suffering as a result of their ignorance

Lord Temptation

The disgusting truth about the near extinction of koalas is that 80% of koalas were already functionally extinct (or dying from human-contact diseases) before these bushfires.

These bushfires are being made a scapegoat for the rampant housing and construction industry that has decimated the native koala habitat.

These dreadful arsonists have sealed the nail in the coffin.

Darling, I wish I could give you a hug and bring love into your heart.

Since I can’t, I would love to know which 4 million species have gone extinct since the new year has started. :flutter:
