I actually really prefer her performance of TIHTY by a mile just cuz her vocals were on point that night and when the assault victims comes on stage...instant goosebumps. It is very powerful and it is also just as iconic as her Shallow performance.

The fact that Gaga has 3 of the most iconic moments at the Oscars this decade

From 3 iconic VMA’s performances in a row (4 counting 2010’s night) to 3 iconic Oscar performances in a row... our girl is incredible

3 points in and ready for more

Some of y’all annoy me so much lol. Yes TIHTY is way more important but Shallow was more iconic and way more remembered and it will go down in history as one of the most iconic Oscar performances. Almost everyone was talking about it. It was a MOMENT. TIHTY as important as the song and performance was, is not really memorable to the GP. And that’s just facts. Why y’all try to let your opinions be facts when the fact is right there?

Does it matter? Damage is done

Her vocals at the end of TIHTY perfomance were horrible. I lowered the sound. Screaming for screaming is just not fine imo. The moment with survivors was iconic though.

Shallow performance was brillant. Amazing chemistry with Bradley. My favorite Gaga Oscar performance. Then Julie Andrews tribute.

her 3 Oscars performances are absolute highlights of her career. The Sound of Music Tribute is probably my all time favorite of hers

hot take but GGD needs to learn to separate "what had more impact" and "what was supposed to have more impact"

theres like a total of 6 people outside from stan twitter who know what TIHTY is :rip: while Shallow went #1  and everyone talked about the performance for weeks

Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride

this, you can argue the TIHTY performance was the most imporant one/best one but it for sure didn't have the most impact. The shallow one made the song go #1 in the US against all odds (no one thought it would go #1 not even with the Oscar performance) and made the song have a second wind ww and it's one of the most viewed live performances on youtube with people still talking about it.

The sound of music also had more impact, it was the first time the masses realized how talented gaga was and was the big turning point for gaga after the flop of ARTPOP. It's easily one of her most praised performances ever and it went viral for days after.

For TIHTY sadly people forgot about it after a few days and the fact that Gaga lose her Oscar for the song didn't help :emma:

As important of a moment that TIHTY was, given the fact it basically was done BEFORE the #MeToo movement and in front of people like Weinstein too (which I still say is why it lost, because of how many abusive men were on the voting committee).

But Shallow, was a cultural thing, the reason the song went #1 was because of the way the performance went; specifically that one moment at the end where it looked like they were gonna kiss and were in love. Because at the time in the tabloids they were being shipped and every GP member was wondering “will they, won’t they” when it came to if they were together or were getting together.

The public interest in a potential relationship was what fuelled the longevity of the song. Plus it’s the more catchy song I guess.

Plus, let’s be real Diane only wrote the song and had Gaga sing it (TIHTY) because she wanted an Oscar desperately and was sure Gaga’s popularity and acclaim, plus the added subject matter would make certain she won. It’s kinda obvious since Diane basically has nothing to do with Gaga at all anymore.
