Hmm, I get this but also: her message was always “it’s all about my fans” and it just doesn’t seem like that anymore.

So why is she performing for her fans every night then huh??!

What exactly is the point of this section of the show? I bet everyone just feels awkward af. :toofunny:

It's before Applause, right? Maybe a throwback to the bad press she got during that era? I mean, she started the VMA show with boos before Applause, I guess people saying "go f*ck yourself" is just as effective :poot:

OT: why is no one mentioning the face that it looked like she was about to spike the microphone near the end? :sharon:

🌸Flourishing and vibrant🌼

Oh then how come it's a critical and audience success?

Because audiences that pay to see Gaga these days have low expectations :rip: If she delivers some "love yourself" speeches, some half-weird visuals and sings at the piano people are gonna be pleased, simple as that

It's all over every review, and it has been since she debuted. Critics praise her connection to the fans, the fact that she's singing live, her speeches and the piano bits, and that's it. They barely comment on the theatrical aspect of the show, its themes and visuals,... or, in short, all the things I go to see a Gaga show for.

There are critics who echo my pov too, anyway, so it's not just me. Randy Lewis wrote it best:

"the show largely feels afflicted with an attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. There’s little sense of narrative flow, as each elaborate production number and colorful set of imaginative costumes come into play. Likewise, the choreography she and her thoroughly committed dancers engage in offers little in the way of physical expression or amplification of her songs’ lyrics or music ... [T]he momentum dissipates—no idea why all of this text looks like this, can't edit it to save my life— the instant she [leaves] the stage, leaving in her wake the equivalent of dead air while she and the entourage gea[r] up for another set piece" (LA Times)

tantrum-throwing "fans" who expect her to turn down an opportunity that suits her financially, professionally and personally.

She's doing two shows in Vegas though :rip: Most fans who don't like Enigma are actually very supportive of the Jazz & Piano shows so how do you respond to that with your "logic"? :lmao: She could've easily taken the opportunity to perform in Vegas by just doing that show. And I would've much preferred that scenario, so how am I throwing a tantrum about her performing in Vegas? This isn't about Vegas, it's about her putting on a bad pop show. Stop deflecting.

She has millions of them scattered across the world. There is only one Lady Gaga in the world.

I don't get why so many of Enigma's defenders bring up the happiness argument. Of course I want Gaga to be happy :air: But I also don't want a bad show... Like, what do the two have to do with each other? :emma:

I'd rather she took more time off to take care of her body and her soul and drop Enigma completely  Just focus on the Jazz & Piano show, which is clearly the show she's more passionate about (imo), and quietly and patiently work on the next project. What's wrong with that?

My disliking of Enigma has nothing to do with me disrespecting her as a person. It's just a bad show, objectively, imo, and ridiculously subpar when thinking of her talent and creative potential. It's unworthy of her name. That's why I want her to stop doing it.

Actually this thread wasn't created with your posts in mind. As much as I vehemently disagree with your comments on the quality and content of the show, which we have had tons of exchanges about before, I don't think you presented them in a too disrespectful manner. This thread is more concerned with people bashing Gaga for staying in a city that they don't live in and that she is bound to board an airplane and visit their doorstep so they could see her perform.

I've never got that sentiment from you.

I've always found that part of the show cringeworthy tbh..

I mean she's preaching something in front of 5k people. Girl you want people to go **** themselves, just release a song asking people to **** themselves :laughga:

Just a random thought I miss Gaga speaking her mind through music.

By the way I can go on and on with those Enigma reviews but I don't want to spam. You get the idea. That was the tip of the iceberg.  Nobody leaves disappointed. And even people are dragged along as plus 1s they leave respecting her talent.

@Madling

If anyone watches that video and watches her stumble through that "acrobatic" routine after which she loses her earpiece (wel rehearsed show, wow) and is impressed then that just proves my point :toofunny:

The rest of the videos you posted are some choreographies we've seen a million times already and her singing at a piano which you can also see in the Jazz & Piano show  Apart from the occasionally great lighting and interesting set design what is supposed to impress me?

This is 2019. We've seen better. From her. Years ago.
