There are artists who shaped the pop genre in the decade such as Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Rihanna and Lady Gaga. They have all made a change in the aspects of pop music nowadays but how about its Korean counterpart? Well, a lot of them has made a big change to the Gayo genre and if you scroll further, you may just know who they are.

BIGBANG

Known as the honorific Kings of K-Pop, the group has made a name for themselves internationally throughout Asia and America. They were at the time, the most popular K-Pop group that they were the first Korean artists to chart at the Billboard 200 with their EP Alive and has some of the most best-selling albums in their genre with Made Series and Made. They are also one of the greatest touring forces of their country and sold more than 150 million records worldwide.

Girls' Generation

Yes, we're including Jessica here, SM. While OT8 is still fine, they made an impact with the OT9. Earning numerous hits such as Oh!, Genie, The Boys, I Got A Boy and none other, Gee, they became the most successful girl group in Korea. They are named the Nation's Girl Group, the highest honor name for idols. They are the most prominent female figure in Korea and the Korean wave, and made an impact with the song Into the New World, which has been used for LGBT pride, women's right protests and most importantly, the impeachment protest in Korea. 

SHINee

What's SHINee? One of the most revolutionary boy groups of Korea. They are prominent due to their ever changing sounds, creative process in songs and of their award winning body of works and hits such as Ring Ding Dong, Replay, Dream Girl and View.

2NE1

Named as the pioneers of K-Pop, 2NE1 is nothing but iconic. They have one of the most versatile groups with all-rounder CL, vocalist Park Bom, rapper and main dancer Minzy and visual Dara. They are also one of the most successful girl groups, also hitting 150 million records sold worldwide. 

f(x)

You cannot have a best of K-pop list without adding f(x). f(x) is one of the most critically acclaimed groups in Korea. They have released acclaimed albums, one of those including Pink Tape, Billboard's no. 1 K-Pop album of the decade.

EXO

Known as the princes of K-Pop, EXO has one of the best careers in their genre. Starting off small, they became famous and known as the best boy group. They have released tons of hits from Ko Ko Bop, Growl, Tempo, Obsession and Love Shot.

Red Velvet

Of course, the representative girl group. We gotta hand it to them as they were the first South Korean group to perform in the dictated country North Korea. They are one of the most beloved groups around the world and had hits such as Bad Boy, Red Velvet, Ice Cream Cake and of course Russian Roulette.

TWICE

The new Nation's Girl Group. They are the best-selling girl group in Japan and Korea. They have released commercially successful albums like Twicecoaster and songs such as Likey, TT, Cheer Up and Yes or Yes, all that has reached number 1 on Gaon, Korea's major music chart.

BTS

Of course, who wouldn't forget BTS? They have made a name for themselves and records. They have the best-selling Kpop album in history, one of the most streamed songs in Korea, most streamed K-Pop song in Spotify and of course, the first K-Pop group to ever set foot in the Recording Academy. 

BLACKPINK

The hottest girl group now, the biggest K-Pop girl group ever, BLACKPINK. BLACKPINK has made numerous records this decade with only 3 years inside their belt. The longest no. 1  all-kill in Korea's charts, most streamed girl group in their country, most viewed K-Pop video by a group ( 1 billion ), most viewed debut video by a group and highest K-pop girl group to chart inside the Hot 200.
