2013: Rihanna

2016: Beyonce

Facts.

Oh this x1000. What the F**K did Madonna do in 2015/16? Pink okay yeah she was super successful in 2012/13 but like Rihanna just out-iconed.

and newbie Lizzo for next year... Chile... they just missed the mark bad, and can’t make it up mess

EDIT: okay Beyoncé got 2009 so meh, I see why they’d not wanna do the same person twice so soon. Rihanna tho, absolutely tragic. An ICON and I don’t even stan

EDIT 2: oh pls not Billie getting it this year... well I guess Lizzo can next year too. And Selena in 2017?!?!

All Selena did was flop with Bad Liar

Man... suddenly this title is hella worthless

But Ciara &  Beyonce were awarded in 2008 and 2009.. :saladga: and SZA,  Nicki Minaj &  Janelle Monáe were awarded for different categories..  Aretha Franklin and Mary J. Blige were awarded icon award at the same event. Solange Knowles was awarded for impact. People on twitter should check their facts before calling someone out for ''racism''.

What I don't see are Asian women and no one's complaining about that..

Oh Lord Twitter people need to do some fact checking before they start this mess. Would it not have been weird for Beyonce to get WOTY in 2009, then again in 2014? The only thing I disagree with is Rihanna not having one when she was at the top. LIzzo probably could have gotten it this year. But some of you pretending that black women aren't represented in the music industry? Some of The biggest acts in the past two years have been black women or WOC- Cardi and LIzzo. Lizzo is the top nominee at the grammys this year. People on Twitter get on my damn nerves.

the only years I really agree with are 2012, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019 lol

I'd say.. 2010 - Lady Gaga; 2011 - Adele; 2013 - Rihanna; 2016 - Beyoncé; 2017 - Cardi B (definitely not a year for women.. it's sad)

Y'all saying Ciara and Beyonce for last decade but the Twitter was making a statement on THIS DECADE.

Beyonce had the best selling female album in 2013 and 2016 (WW)... so... wtf is good Billboard??

Rihanna shoulda gotten it for 2011/12 for the Loud era... an iconic era that produced HITS UPON HITS.

And both Pink and Madonna were such random choices during those years

I think Pink deserved 2013. Her album was in the top 10 Year End Chart and Just Give Me A Reason went #1 that year.

EDIT: How do they reward someone with this? Based on what they did as an artist or Billboard stats?

Taylor got WOTY two times in the span of 3 years, is that not even more weird? And the title is misleading, the outrage isn't that no black woman EVER won a WOTY award but the fact that no black woman won one THIS ENTIRE DECADE even though people like Beyoncé, Rihanna or, as you mentioned, Cardi and Lizzo most definitely deserved a spot there.

No one's pretending that black women aren't represented in the music industry, they're simply pointing out that time and time again said women get snubbed in favor of their white peers for no apparent reason (like Madonna in 2016, I mean, really?). The criteria for Woman of the Year seems to change every time so it's completely understandable that people can't fully grasp what qualifies one woman over the other and why so many successful black women were paid dust.

You would have realized that if you "fact checked" by taking 2 minutes to read the tweets in question with an open mind.

Taylor Swift got it twice, 2011 and 2014.

Gaga deserved it in 2009 or 2011, not 2015, but y'all ain't ready for that conversation :reductive:

Clearly not that since Madonna got it in 2016 :reductive:
