She is the CLEAR frontrunner for the award, would have the support of pop, country, Americana, English, British, etc. voting blocs, and no other album in the eligibility period had a hit that entered mainstream consciousness in the way Shallow did. Beyonce and other R&B/Rap/Country artists continously clean up in both the General Field *and* genre categories. This is, as pointed out, why artists like Beyonce, Taylor, Rihanna, Norah Jones, Lizzo, etc. score so many nominations and wins. Those opportunities are much more limited for pop singers. But, there is no actual justification for allowing those kind of sweeping noms/wins for other artists and then blocking someone like Gaga from winning both AOTY and Compilation Soundtrack. She was SNUBBED from BNA (so much so that the rules were changed to allow artists like Lizzo to compete with years-old music), SNUBBED from ROTY/SOTY nominations for Bad Romance, SNUBBED by her own label for not submitting BTW/EOG which may have earned at least 1 consolation GF win, SNUBBED by not winning for Til It Happens To You, and SNUBBED by not winning at least 1 of SOTY/ROTY for Shallow. She *should* have promoted the album more; she *should* have promoted ARUTW and INLA as full followup singles. She *will* be losing out on SOTY/ROTY noms/potential wins because of those mistakes. But, ASIB *is* the AOTY for this eligibility period and LG has produced work for over a decade that has been snubbed by the Academy and for her to have 0 General Field wins while artists like Lizzo collect for songs that aren't even from their nominated albums is nothing short of ridiculous. SO, WITH THAT SAID... She deserves an AOTY nom and win; a Compilation Soundtrack nom and win; a Song Written for Visual Media nom and win; and ARUTW was a beautiful track that would be well-deserving of at least 1 nomination in SOTY/BPVP but wouldn't be an outrage if it missed out.
