She's been putting out Grammy worth music year after year (she's even got two AOTY nominations so far) and keeps getting ignored by them. It's painful to see, honestly. Not to mention that, along with Gaga and a few others, she's a strong EGOT contender. I swear there's nothing that woman cannot do (just like Gaga). She has the potential to be EGOT but unfortunately doesn't have the opportunities (she stole "Hidden Figures" in my eyes and many others' but didn't get any acting noms for it!). Hopefully people will wake up!

StrawberryBlond 14,836
If they want big names, they can always invite them as part of a "legends perform" kinda thing. Every ceremony always involves a tribute to a huge name or a star singing who doesn't have any new material out but is a legend. They're going to need it because the current scene is packed with so many young, new names who don't hold any clout yet, so there needs to be some big hitters there, even if they're not nominated. Totally didn't know the nominations were getting announced tomorrow, look forward to it no matter who it is. Kinda surprised to hear that Ariana could have 5 noms. Not to say she'll win any, of course, but after her set-to with the academy on Twitter at this year's ceremony, I thought they'd maybe leave her out in the cold as punishment regardless of how well she did. And if Gaga got 3, that means she could have best soundtrack, AOTY but what else? Unless IWNLA got nominated (did it even count as a single release?) I can't think what else it could possibly be. 2 hours ago, River Phoenix said: Star power my ass how can Gaga receive 3 noms only for 2020 when she got 5 NOMS last year with ONLY Shallow and Joanne piano ver. ? I thought you wanna acknowledge Gaga? Something is not right. **** you Grammys. She hasn't released any material in that time period, though, unless you count IWNLA, which was only made a single this year in a very select countries. And that's hardly going to be up for SOTY and ROTY when it didn't even go top 20. The only things she can get nominated for this year are ASIB for soundtrack and AOTY. The fact she got 3 noms if true, is right on target, so I don't know what you're talking about.
Stephen 30,423
There's no way she's singing a song from ASIB. She will either do LG6 lead, a tribute performance, or nothing.

Enigma 7,182
I do like their statement however. I'll be happy if Grammys go to actual influencial musicians and not some soundcloud teenagers like Billie. I swear if they continued that way in 2 years Bhad Babie was gonna get AOTY

Hopefully people will wake up! I concur. Tbh I don't think DC or EL should have won AOTY, but AA absolutely was the best album out that year when it came out and is her best work. I wanted DC to win purely because I love Janelle and she's well overdue for a win, but truth be told, I thought it was an very good album but kind of articulated the same points as her previous albums just without Cindy Mayweather. The reason people got on it so much over her past work is that her past stuff was a bit more bizarre and DC was a beeline to more commercial territory (very well done, I might add), and PR. But her past work was just as rich, if not more than her more recent work. I mean, you can dissect her first album to pieces and find smatterings of every afrofuturistic artist in there from Sun Ra to Miles David to Prince. It's spectacular. But for real, she's got serious EGOT potential and she's got a kind of silent potential to take her there. Also just props to her for being a black woman CEO. we love.
