What would you think if physical copies joined the plastic-free revolution?

Considering that millions of plastic CDs are packaged every album/track despite the streaming era stirring up a storm, would you appreciate the change?

How would you react if a major artist/record company announced this packaging?

If it was better for the environment which it is, I wouldn't mind a digipak type of packaging for physical media releases.

Digipaks are my favorite type of packaging, they’re just cool to look at, so of course I’d rather have digipaks.

A part of me will be nostalgic of the old CD packaging of course but if it's better for the environment I am here for it.

As a collector, I hate them just because they tear so easily if you bend them the wrong way, or simply just using them will eventually wear them down.

And I know what the next argument will be: the plastic cases break just as easily! However, it’s much easier to simply take the album part, remove the plastic case, and replace it with a new one. I used to buy plastic cases just for this reason. With a digipak, if it’s damaged, then the only “fixing” would be to buy another one, which just isn’t practical, especially for limited releases.

I mean jewel cases aren't all that aesthetically pleasing either... Anyhoe, good design can solve anything so it shouldn't be an issue.
