Most disrespected legend?

Legends are legends but it goes without saying that some hold more weight than others. Some seem to be more protected, like if you saw a bad word against them, you're deemed out of line but other ones are more polarizing and you can get away with really running them down in more ways than one, even debating their legendary status. I once saw a member here state that Madonna was one of the most disrespected legends ever and it made me wonder, are there any that also in the same boat or worse?

Here's my list of other ones that get disrespected and the most common criticisms of them, from oldest to most recent. Note that I'm not saying all this stuff is true, just listing the most common ways in which the public have bashed them:

Elvis Presley (cheesy music, didn't write his own songs, had success by ripping off black musicians at a time when they struggled for success)

Cher (bad voice, doesn't write her own songs, plastic surgery jokes, can't act)

Michael Jackson (the child abuse allegations, plastic surgery/skin lightening jokes, didn't invent the moonwalk)

Madonna (can't sing that well, slept her way to the top, wasn't that talented but used others that were, can't act, lipsynchs, relies on sex to sell, has a bad attitude)

Kylie (can't sing, doesn't write her own songs, relies on looks and sex appeal rather than talent)

Mariah Carey (overweight jokes, can't act, voice deterioration/lipsynching, has a diva attitude)

Britney Spears (can't sing, doesn't write her own songs, unintelligent, lipsynchs, breakdown/shaved head jokes, pop product with no artistic input)

Beyonce (relies on writing camps to make albums, took back her cheating husband, dumped her bandmates for solo glory, has a diva attitude)

 

So, who do you think has it worse? Or do you think there's someone who gets it the worst that I haven't listed? Remember that it takes a lot of time to be a legend, you need to have been around for about 20 years at least and had a lot of success to be classed as a legend, based on my criteria.

Mariah Carey

She can still sing (may not be as good as she was in the 90s), but she is still very talented and her new tour had AMAZING vocals. She has nodules that affect her singing and gets worse as she gets older. Mariah looks very great for her age. She is very sweet to other celebs, but she can show her diva side when someone disrespects her in a way.

As a fan of her, I voted for Madonna, but thinking right now, she will still be described as the huge legend she is and will always be, in the same legacy as Michael Jackson more or less, I'd say. I think Britney is the most disrespected here. Some people don't even wanna think of her as a legend, im not even a fan of her but she gets a lot of undeserved hate

Janet Jackson, she always was criticized of being too sexual, the sister of, the one that didn't help LeToya and then the Superbowl happened and everyone just turned their back to her and left her alone and the Americans made her the first villain of the United States, her career since then was pretty much almost over, she never actually recovered from it..

Janet Jackson. sis did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING and got hate. She got all the blame for the Super Bowl incident and it wasn’t even her fault. She was always expected to make the same kind of music as Michael did, but she didn’t and people didn’t like that.

If gaga would have been there since 20 years,  I would have say her (and Britney). She received ALL the critics : a weirdo, a satanist, a slut, that she only wants to get attention, crazy, narcissist, irrelevant, messy, cringy, and many others.

But I think that Britney, really has been disrespected in a tragic way. People were taking pleasure seeing suffering in front of the whole world, some people were predicting the day of her suicide and thought it was funny. The media destroyed her back in 2006/07/08 and she did not deserve that.

"They" hunted him ever since the 70's when he broke his nose and had reconstructive surgery.

Then the vitiligo came, lupus started destroying the damaged tissue on his making making it smaller and smaller after more and more surgeries.

They hounded him for drug abuse after he suffered severe burns to his scalp.

They made up hundreds of tabloid stories in the 80's, ridiculous sh*t.

And the icing on the cake came when he was in Russia about to go on stage when he was told he was being accused of molesting a child  

His next album was full of tracks that showed how he felt after all this garbage. Scream, They Don't Care About Us, Stranger in Moscow, Money, 2 Bad, D.S., This Time Around, Childhood, nothing but pure anger, sadness, and paranoia from a formerly hopeful soul.

They didn't just disrespect him, they destroyed him. They killed him. Even if death he can't find peace.

Thankfully the GP kind of gets it now. They see it from her perspective and they respect her for her recovery.

Madonna. The GP is constantly dragging her for her age or whatever she chooses to do to her face, while ignoring that most of the ways we experience music would not be mainstream and industry standards without her.

Madonna (but she seems to not even respect her own legend status) and Mariah. The Mariah disrespect is unreal. People just don’t like her cause they think she’s a b*tch/diva and make fun of how her voice has changed even though they can’t even hit a single note while singing along to her songs 

The girl invented Christmas and wrote 17 of her 18 #1s. Like she is not only an amazing vocalist but an incredible songwriter and musician. Meanwhile men with problematic behavior and half her talent are praised as gods

Beyone and Britney are not at the level as those others...

Madonna for sure. She was highly regarded then something happened in the last 5 years or so where, at least in the US, the tide sort of turned. I remember in the 2000s she worshiped. She got the Hall of Fame induction, did the Superbowl etc.

Mariah as well. Unlike Madonna she was never as highly regarded. She does well during Xmas then it's back to being seen as a joke.
