TheQueenLG 2,469
About f*cking time. Dems should have done this the day after Trump fired James Comey and then publicly announced his motive was the Russia probe. Although I think this is 2.5 years late, better late than never!!! The US Congress is made of two governing bodies of elected officials :The House of Representatives (currently controlled by a majority of Dems) and The Senate (currently majority Republicans). The House determines whether impeachment is justified. If so, The House passes the decision on whether or not to remove the President from office, to The Senate (during which the president actually faces a trial concerning the alleged illegal activity) Note : impeachment and removal from office are two seperate parts of the same process. For example, Bill Clinton was impeached in the 1990s by The House, but never removed from office by The Senate

So does it meant that Dems only need 4 Republican to turn cloaks for the Senate to approve of the impeachment?

The vote in question in the house, from this article, is not a vote to impeach Trump. It's just about procedure and approving the process and setting rules for the investigation. A vote on articles of impeachment will happen in the house in the months to come. Then the Senate will hold a trial. No. In the constitution, impeachment requires a senate supermajority (2/3 of the vote) in order to remove the president. It's possible that we could reach that threshold, if the rumors surrounding how the GOP senators feel about Trump in private are true. We also do know that the senate Republicans are already preparing to launch the trials of impeachment once the house votes yes.

They just have to play nice with him to keep up appearances with their voters. Honestly, I think there's a good chance enough Republicans will turn on him and vote for removal. That is, unless this whole thing gets stalled for ao long that he's simply beaten in the election. Either way, I'd put money on him being gone by the time 2021 comes around 🤞 Whimsical bitch

There's nothing that says you have to hold a vote to open impeachment. This kitten over here (meow)

Plus, it breaks a BS Republican talking point that the impeachment is "not legal without the vote". This kitten over here (meow)
