Didn't she open with 55k or something? All Rihanna has on her is the GP, and that's not going to get her the masses of album sales anytime soon. She needs to work on gathering a core fanbase before I consider her a threat to Gaga. Ballads can sell albums better than dance smashes. Rihanna won't start selling albums magically eight years into her career. Same with her touring power. She's nearing the 100M mark with her toursPlus LOUD sold almost as much as BTW worldwide. The sort of radio friendly sound we often get from Katy. Annoying repeat of "shine bright like a diamond" ... reminds me of "we found love ..." repeat but not as effective. Just because it doesn't have a loud Calvin Harris breakdown or hip hop influence doesn't mean it's new for Rihanna. Kesha has that breakdown though in it, making it more generic radio-current sounding. Regardless of whether Diamonds sticks or ends up tanking out of the world, I do think it helped boost her standing against her contemporaries. TTT didn't sell nearly as well as BTW, and 100 million touring is still a far cry from Gaga's numbers. I like Rihanna though, and I hope Diamonds does well. It's certainly different, just like WFL.
