I think we've all learned that there is no such thing as a "reputable source" in Pop Music. CapitalFM claims Adele will be here at midnight, Italian Vogue claimed Madame X would've been released Fall 2018, Lady Gaga claimed she'd release ARTPOP Act II...

Capital FM based it off that random Music and Facts twitter account that tweets wrong sh*t all the time—they really should have known better.

The whole era is being handled...oddly. Obviously expensive, elaborate MV but very little promo. Even if she wants to avoid interviews, her label could put up some billboards, pay for some Spotify ads, etc. Odd release times—in the streaming era, releasing on a Wednesday is just strange unless it's not expected to be a chart topper anyway, is post album debut single, or so on. It is a very good song, but also just doesn't sound like Katy's style. Yes, artists mix it up (Gaga,  Brendan Urie, Madonna, Rihanna etc.) but this seems less like her mixing it up and more trying to chase that Ariana Grande type of sound.

I agree that there may be some sort of issue with her label.

Oh, they can but it's not an everyday thing. And you can get sudden change of weather conditions randomly but then it perks up again. But it's pretty much assumed that if you want to go Spain at any time of year for a holiday, you can, even in December-January because it's still sunny, albeit cooler, so it's good for those who don't want blistering heat. My aunt and uncle went to Italy in May and made sure they checked into a hotel with air conditioning. It was absolutely sweltering inside and they asked at reception what the deal was with the AC and they were told that May isn't considered warm enough to put it on. So, yeah, very different perspectives of heat differences in countries where they're used to and acclimatised to frequent sunshine!

True, it must feel weird to hear summer songs on the radio when there's Halloween decorations around! I can't imagine having Christmas and not having it be cold and dark. And yeah, you do have some form of seasons but not where everything starts looking and feeling different. When you live somewhere that has the classic spring/summer/autumn/winter rotation, it's a vibe you feel in the air. The only time we hear summer music at this time is when someone's jogging to it!

I didn't say it would automatically smash there either, just that she's already shot herself in the foot as concerns an international audience. She shot this video in May as well, so why she's waiting until now to release it is bizarre. She should've swapped it out with the neutral sounding Small Talk and had 2 summer songs in actual summer months. It's got all the makings of a hit but Katy doesn't seem to have that luck right now.

Katy has above and beyond the number of subscribers Gaga has, she should be pulling in millions of views for a new video on the daily. Lana Del Rey, who has never had a #1 single, has never come remotely close to Katy's commercial success and only has 8.8 million subscribers, put out her video for Doin' Time one day before Small Talk. Doin' Time currently has over 26 million views and over 874k likes. Small Talk has over 20 million views and over 493k likes. Both these videos have been out for 1.5 months. That is a very strange split for someone with 8.8 million subscribers and one with 35.3 million. Just sayin'.

Same here. Once the queen of #1's, but she hasn't had one since 2014 and she's only had one top 10 hit in 5 years (I know, people had to look up that stat when I quoted it before). I knew it was going to end up going this way eventually but I didn't think the downfall would be as drastic in 2017 and only get worse from there. Witness turned into an even bigger disaster than I could've anticipated and it's beyond me how her new work isn't even having a sniff at the US top 10 and views for her videos are lower than they've ever been, just not registering at all. Don't get me wrong, I've seen swift dips from fame into near-enough irrelevancy before but never with someone who is as famous and successful as Katy. I enjoyed it at first because I wasn't feeling her Witness material, the floppage of these songs made up for earlier songs that were hits and didn't deserve it and I was still in that bitter "AP must get her redemption" phase but to see her new work, most of which has been quite good, just pass the public by completely has been more than a little bit sad to watch. I genuinely feel for her now.

Because Katy did a lot of  promo for NRO, SM and HIH ?  LOL. She did nothing compare to GaGa, I remember you that GaGa has the SuperBowl + Coachella +  Grammy live and promo all aroung the world, Katy did nothing to those 3 singles. It's not even a part of KP5. So stop, Katy didn't failed, GaGa did !

The typical temperature in the summer in my area of portugal was 28C to 30C in the day while winter time its like 10C to 12C. Thats a considerable difference

i assume Italy may be warmer tho but even so it has its seasons

Shallow had more spotify streams in 24 hours than ANY of Katy's latest singles, and that was coming from the Joanne era, before the movie's release/campaign and while being a "streaming poison she'll never have a hit again".

ARUTW has also outstreamed all of Katy's latest singles, while not even being an actual single in most of the world.
