Artists labels have to decide if the fanbases are big enough for that investment. This means only very few people can still release Greatest Hits albums and make them turn a profit. I would love a Gaga Boxset of sorts, all the albums with additional tracks, couple unreleased gems, demos maybe. You could go crazy and include reissues of every standalone single too - maybe add a b-side. JustJames 1,041 Posted October 4, 2019 Share Posted October 4, 2019 Such a waste that a Greatest Hits was never released during the pre-ARTPOP and/or post-Joanne eras. Many singers not only profitted but were able to remain relevant through 1 or 2 new tracks (see: Britney and 'My Prerogative' and '3'). For an artist with so much unreleased material, these collections could have been a platform for songs like Brooklyn Nights. I still think Aura (radio edit) would have been a great release prior to ARTPOP to introduce the era as an unveiling without the pressures of it being a true lead single. Gaga has always been the kind of artist that really dislikes going back and recover old material, ffs she's the type of person that scraps new material because her mood today is not the same from last week. Franch Toast 27,155 Posted October 4, 2019 Share Posted October 4, 2019 I really understand the urge for her to release supposedly scrapped projects, and maybe that'll happen one day in the distant future, but I think it's unlikely that it'll happen anytime soon. And I get it. I'm also in an arts field, though not a musician, and sometimes projects are scrapped for good reason––for example, maybe they didn't turn out how she'd hoped; maybe she felt like going in a different direction to achieve her artistic vision; maybe she got bored or found herself in a different place; maybe the label didn't like them; etc. That said, of course I would love to see her release some of this alleged scrapped material. I also wouldn't mind a Greatest Hits album. I actually think it would go over well with the GP. Not everyone streams these days, and some people still drive cars with CD players and no USB port (Like me! If I want to listen to music in my car, it has to be on CD.)
