And yeah, Gaga basically says that no work of art could translate the furor of losing Jesus. As for the Paris part it has always been the most mysterious part about that song. The "mountain tops in Paris" sounds like the Sacré-cœur to me but there is no reference to Mary Magdalene in that church. However, a famous sculpture of Mary Magdalene is kept at the Louvre so that may be why. As for the "J'veux pas mourir toute seule" it means "I don't want to die alone". Basically she's scared of what her life will be without Jesus by her side. She's lost and alone. i'm like so happy that i understand this song more LOL OMG this song is amazing : ) i'm sure there's so much more to the song that we're still missing but i at least have a baseline to go by. like wtf.... i am so shook by now learning this love u

ryansamonster 1,635
The money thing, I have no idea. Might be using money as a symbol for something else... For the longest time I thought she said Bloody even though I think it says Money in the linear notes from the CD.
Sam98 1,896
The song is pretty tricky tbh It's like she's talking about 3 different Marys, maybe even 4: Jesus' mother, Mary Magdalene, Mary Tudor (which is the historical Bloody Mary) and maybe even Mary Stuart (because of the part about Paris) I have no clue, but it's sonically so pleasing ☄️ Before there was love, there was silence 🌌

RAMROD 106,804
It's about her former car a red Rolls Royce, whichs shenamed as such, and her heart break with Lüc Carl, her former rock star aka her ex. This is Bloody Mary, the car. It is auctioned for charity.

For the longest time I thought she said Bloody even though I think it says Money in the linear notes from the CD. i thought the intro was “bloody,” for the longest while too … but echoes of bunny and money, also … “money,” just on an immediate reaction … being the “root of all evil,” maybe it’s an allusion to the thirty pieces of silver … like a seed reference to the price the high priests paid judas to hand over jesus … the sordid genesis of corrupt currency, profits in sacrificed prophets, or broadly just the general juxtaposition of love and money, and the song being the fallout of choosing the latter over the former … or something to that effect tbh, just rambling but idk, throwing ideas out for the sake of brainstorming also, just another footnote on the OP, in addition to the comprehensive compendium of existing commentary
JustTea 4,928
"Liberaté mi amor" - I released my love. The whole song might be about her love towards money and how she got into "music not the bling"

JazzGa 14,586
I think this song has two meanings. On the surface, it is about Mary Magdalene and her suffering for Jesus. But I think it is also an expression of Gaga's commitment to her fans. Hopefully u enjoy reading this First of all I think she whispers "Bloody" at the beginning, not "Money" Love is just a history that they may prove And when you're gone, I'll tell them my religion's you (Mary loves Jesus so much that she will spread the word of his faith after he dies. OR: Gaga's fans are her religion, which is a classic Gaga-ism she used to say all the time during TFM/BTW era, see the lyrics to Teeth.) When Punktius comes to kill the king upon his throne I'm ready for their stones (Mary is prepared to be stoned to death for Jesus when Pontius, an actual Biblical figure, comes to kill him. OR: Gaga is ready to be made fun of and dragged by the media for doing things that her fans like.) I'll dance, dance, dance/with my hands, hands, hands/Above my head, head, head Like Jesus said I'm gonna dance, dance, dance/with my hands, hands, hands/Above my head, head, head Dance together forgive him before he's dead because... (This is the least meaningful part of the song IMO, just a nice poppy pre-chorus. Maybe Mary is picturing how she will continue on being strong even after her love Jesus dies) I won't cry for you, I won't crucify the things you do I won't cry for you, see, when you're gone I'll still be Bloody Mary (Mary is going to be strong, not judge Jesus for deciding to leave her and the earth behind, even without Jesus the people will still think Mary is a wh*re and a martyr to be stoned. OR: Gaga will not judge her fans and will try not to let their sad stories of being bullied/mental health affect her. She was going through a lot of that during this time.) We are not just art for Michaelangelo to carve He can't rewrite the aggro of my furied heart (My emotions are real and more than just a beautiful expression for artwork or performance) I'll wait on mountain tops in Paris cold I don't want to die alone (Mary would do anything for Jesus and is upset to lose her love and die alone. OR: Gaga would do anything for her fans, waiting on stage and after her shows and wearing popstar outfits in the cold just to meet her fans because she needs the fans and the applause (see: Applause written after this)) That's my interpretation! I love interpreting songs and poems, especially Gaga's because they always have 2 or 3 meanings about love, fame, and a reference to culture!
