Beyonce calls Blue Ivy a 'cultural icon'

And what of it? "Carter" isn't exclusive to  Beyoncé, nor is Blue Ivy. Believe it or not, but those words and names actually existed before Beyoncé. And no one is using that woman's wedding service thinking it's affiliated with Beyoncé or her child. The average person in the GP doesn't even know that's her name.

Carter isn't exclusive but BLUE IVY CARTER is....

The women could've continued running her business without using her full name, like what she's been doing. The issue is that she's profiting off her full name, and it can cause confusion. People very much know who Blue Ivy Carter is....

I very much doubt that people are going to be confused about whether or not a wedding planning company is endorsed or owned by a toddler. That's even assuming people know what a "Blue Ivy" is in the first place, anyway.

Which, don't get me wrong, I can understand why Beyoncé would want that name trademarked. But the woman has just as much of a right to it, honestly. And, like I said, between the two, I'll always support the "little man".

Wtf this si ridiculous she's like 7 yo she doesn't really  understand what it means to famous, to be in a middle of a worlwide business, to be watched all the time by everyone. They put her in the spotlight but she didn't ask for it and this is bad. Even of you're a superstar, we should protect children from this complicated and unhealthy world that is celebrity. She will become a teen and it's obvious all this **** will start to be hard for her, how can you not let the choice to your child to be or not in front of the spotlight? They really think they're god, I used to love bey but this "I'm claim to be the goddess of all and no one can top me" attitude really pisses me of and it made her fanbase toxic.

Sounds like exaggerated lawyer-speak.

That said, I feel a bit nervous for her. I feel like all this attention and mythologizing of her parents burdens her with huge expectations by default. All children of celebrities probably feel some type of inadequacy or pressure to measure up, but I feel like it might be worse in her case.

*company named Blue Ivy exists*

*Blue Ivy is born years later*

*therefore she is taking advantage of her name*

I don't get it :madge:

How is she making profits off of her full name? That's the part I'm missing. Are people going to the woman's wedding planning agency because they think they're doing business with Blue Ivy? Do they think their weddings are being planned by a second grader? Is that what it is?

how would people get confused? They think a kid is running a business?

You see people dressed up as off-brand Mickeys and Elmos in Times Square. It’s the same thing. People are profiting off of people’s quick identification with Mickey and Elmo as they are “iconography” that people will quickly recognize. It’s the same thing here. They won’t think she’s running it but the name will attract greater attention to the brand because of the association.
