Y’all actually think she thinks this? It’s a legal battle and you do what you need to do to win. I have HIGH doubts she sincerely thinks this, but is more or less using this line of defense to secure the copyright.

Came to comment this exact same thing. This is how you argue in court, especially when it comes to intellectual property. :madge:

Wait, she's even trying to stop people from naming anything "Blue Ivy", even their own children ?

The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic!

She's using Blue Ivy Carter’s name for profit, even though their name is different from hers... Not to mention Bey already trademarked her name!

This literally isn’t that big of a deal also as her MOTHER ofc she’s gonna gush about her daughter:awkney:

Whatever y’all are gonna hate regardless.

The company was founded before Blue was born, so in some sense, Bey is the one who is profiting from their name :laughga:

For me it's not that what she said, but the fact that it's another case of the rich and powerful hitting the small businesses of people that just trying to make a living and be a middle-class+.

If her profits was higher than Bey, well, I would side with Bey, but it's not the case..

Yes the company existed before Blue, however what they’re trying to do is earn profit from her full name Blue Ivy Carter as well. The name of the business is Blue Ivy Events and she wants to earn profit from Blue Ivy’s full name because people will get “confused”:laughga: it’s such a ridiculous and frivolous case! You can’t profit off a child’s name and Beyoncé tried to reiterate that the trademark application was for “Blue Ivy Carter” and not “Blue Ivy”.

I understand why you think this is wrong and I respect your opinion but the whole dispute is so dumb the Wedding Event Planner owner is prolonging this case for no justifiable good reason and to hate Beyoncé simply because she’s trying to win the case like every other person would try to do doesn’t make sense to me:laughga:

(I agree on your statement of the rich and poor/middle class:green: she's rich enough, Bey will win simply because she has the money and power to keep taking this to court:green:)

This is exactly why it’s so dumb there’s absolutely no way people will mix up the name of a child and a wedding business.

SHALLOW

That's why i think that whole family needs to be humbled a notch. :triggered: I don't wanna see any of them fail but you need to understand that Beyoncè's ego is HUGE.

And some people still have the nerve to claim that Beyoncé is actually humble and it’s just the media/the Beyhive hyping her upawkward britney spears GIF

If I were the judge, it would all come down to something very simple: who had the name first? It was the wedding planner, so case closed. Yes, I know Beyonce's trying to trademark Blue Ivy Carter as opposed to just Blue Ivy, but it's the principle of it. I believe that's the reason the wedding planner's pursuing this. Maybe she doesn't genuinely believe people would get mixed up but she needs as much ammo to fight this in court. It's nice to see a normal person not take it lying down just because a celebrity snaps their fingers. It reminds me of some Australian fashion designer got sent a cease and desist letter from Katy Perry's lawyers because she was trying to trademark her real name, Katie Perry, for her clothing line. It wanted her to give up the trademark, withdraw the clothes, website and advertising and sign an agreement promising never to use a similar trademark to Katy Perry again. Again, just like the Blue Ivy case, she had this name in the public domain before Katy Perry became famous. And as you can see, semantics of spelling don't even matter. It just has to be similar enough.

Trademarking someone's name is ludicrous. I know it's all veiled under "we don't want anyone making a product called Blue Ivy to profit off our daughter's name" but what it's really about is that they probably want to start pushing Blue into putting her name on products one day and branding it and don't want any overlap. That child's future seems to be all planned out which is pretty sad. Maybe Beyonce and her ilk wouldn't have egos like this if they weren't treated like gods by their fans. A child who's not put out anything into the world is a cultural icon? Give it a rest.
