"Couldn’t careless about history"

Keywords of Oppression right there.

Denial of reality and the foundation of what was.

Always amusing to witness lack of self awareness first hand, it’s like seeing a monkey juggling on a unicycle.

Couldn’t careless about history or other languages. In 2019 American English, we only acknowledge two genders and that’s what imma stick to.

A person could define themselves as a feminine male, a masculine female, emos, hippy, hipster...etc.

My point is a lifestyle/community/belief could represent themselves in a word that defines who they are, but to invade the basics of the English language with madeup pronouns that we should suddenly oblige to for a personal satisfaction isn’t something I’m willing to follow.

And that's where you've failed to understand their point and proved you actually don't understand the language you claim to speak for.

All pronouns are "made up" for one thing, but singular they (which is what most non binary people use as a gender pronoun) is really the best example as it has been grammatically correct and in common use for hundreds of years, even today :rip: No one is "invading the basics of English language" here, you're being dramatic. In 2019, "American English" we use singular they on a regular basis. (Hell, I even used it above and others have used it in this thread :laughga: )

Furthermore "personal satisfaction" greatly undercuts the impact of misgendering people (and just... being rude?). Are you the same with binary trans people? If so its blatantly transphobic.

And yes, our beloved free speech, you have it, you are free to be rude to other people etc... but it doesn't mean it isn't rude, bigoted, and born of ignorance. That being said, if it personally satisfies you to behave that way who are we to argue, right?

But we didn't do that, and there's nothing wrong with Mr and Mrs.

What is wrong with Mx, exactly? Reminder that “I don’t like it,” is a you problem.

99.9% of the people I met in real life find the whole non-binary concept to be ridiculous and laughable, and that’s coming from someone who lives in California, a Democratic state.

If you wanna call more than half of the nation (safe to assume) rude, ignorant, uneducated...all the words you use as defense mechanism for someone who doesn’t share your beliefs, then wow you must be in the uniquely smart, progressive minority.

Won’t even bother quoting certain people in this thread as they already made up their mind about the subject, but to whom it may concern and to hopefully move on from this specific “concern”,

Brief History Of Singular They:

https://public.oed.com/blog/a-brief-history-of-singular-they/

“People who want to be inclusive, or respectful of other people’s preferences, use singular they. And people who don’t want to be inclusive, or who don’t respect other people’s pronoun choices, use singular they as well. Even people who object to singular they as a grammatical error use it themselves when they’re not looking, a sure sign that anyone who objects to singular they is, if not a fool or an idiot, at least hopelessly out of date.”

It's unnecessary. We have Mr. for people who identify as male, we have Mrs. for people who identify as female. I wonder what percentage of the world wants to use "Mx".

Just because someone feels comfortable with something doesn't mean the rest of the world needs to conform to make them feel better.

If this were true then women would never have the right to vote. :toofunny:

And women have legit died for the right to vote.

A woman threw herself in front of a racehorse killing herself in protest.

Too bad the UK have been using Mx on government forms since 2013 and The Oxford English Dictionary added Mx in 2015.

By continuing to say "it's unnecessary" you imply that Non-Binary people are unnecessary, despite their Gender Dysphoria, and therefore dehumanise them.

Again, transphobic.

I don't understand this position. Why shouldn't we make people feel more comfortable in their identity when is has zero impact on yourself?

You don't even have to understand it to make use of it- no one expects people to spend hours learning lists of pronouns. It's as simple as if someone asks you to address them in a certain way that makes them feel more comfortable you respect that and use it.

If someone straight said this same statement about being gay I'd like to think you and me and everyone here would be totally against it and think it was cruel. Why should it be any different for people who are anything other than cisgendered?
