How big would the outrage be if Gaga released BURQA in 2019

Title.

We all know, Burqa was the original title of Aura, but her label made her change it to Aura and choose Applause as a lead single to avoid the controversy.

What do you think? What would have happened if she had released BURQA in 2013 and how would the public react if she released it in 2019?

DISCUSS!

The SJW would be eating her alive for sure but outside of twitter I don't think too many people will care. But I can imagine the video getting a lot of dislikes and damaging her perception even more than Judas.

I don't think it could be a hit both because of this and the sound itself.

yes and

This song is too provocative, even back then. If  some act of terrorism happened in 2013 with that song being the 1st ARTPOP single, her career would've ended forever. :saladga:

Did you think I'd show up in a limousine? No

Nothing would’ve happened since she’s not making fun of burqas or anything.

I would have even more respect for her as an artist. Because it would show that she doesn’t cater to what’s appropriate and acceptable by society.

GP couldn't care less about opinions of Twitter SJWs in 2019.

Dreams of you and me are in the dirt.

Judas exists.

The Burqa demo is way better than the finished product but I like the use of “Aura” a lot more. It just sounds better overall. Why create controversy when another word sounds better and fits the meaning just as well.

It was a dumb title then, it would be dumb now. She doesn’t even know the difference between some of these things, she would come off as ignorant.

Enigma

The Enigma popstar line is so clever because of this. It shows how ultimately that burqa is just a piece of fabric and everything revolving around it is a social construct.

There surely would be cultural appropriation claims, which is a concept I get but it doesn't apply here, because it's not about a race but about a religion.

Religions are all **** and don't deserve any special treatment. People wear slutty nuns outfits all the time. She went another route and went as a slutty burqa-wearer. It's the same.

There would be an outcry, and not just on twitter. People  would accuse her of trying to stir up controversy, use "gimmicks" again, etc. I think a lot of respect she's worked hard to build would be lost.

And whatever genuine meaning or message she was trying to send would be overshadowed. No point in going there.
