She released "Thinking of You" as the 3rd single, but it underperformed, but its one of my favorite Katy Perry songs! I'm actually surprised you don't know Waking Up in Vegas very well, it did very well in Canada! It peaked at #2!

I didn't start to follow mainstream music and charts until Gaga exploded late 2008 I only know her hits before that "kissed a girl" and "hot and cold" cuz they remained relevant years later and when I got into Katy I remembered them but I wasn't following Katy or top 40 during her debut album that's probably why I forgot her 3rd and 4th single Everything from California Gurls onward I followed tho and as I said, I love pretty much every one of her singles and videos She may not be deeply artistic to Gaga's level but in terms of just making enjoyable music and videos to whatch few have her beat in my books tbh And contrary to what many on this site say, I don't think generic means talentless or bad automatically. We need generic artists too not just complicated ones. Not every song or album has to be so deep and serious all the time. Sometimes I just wanna listen to a bop and not have to think too hard on its meaning tbh

As a discipline, political economy originated in moral philosophy …” ). Effectually, the expression of fame through the song underscores the mutual inclusivity … or, at least, the oddly specific bedfellowship (if that’s even a word) between the prestige, direct proximity to public access and consideration, prominence of fame, and the influence over social dynamics, institutional governance (albeit abstract but still), and distribution / exercise of power that encompasses or underscores politics … a first-personal take on the contemporary political TL; DR: the song seems to explore fame in a way that expresses its mutual inclusivity with politics (at least from an American-Dream-as-political-instrument perspective … and fame here being the new American dream) … but tbh, that’s just my two cents on the rhyme

That‘s valid, I can definitely see that … I think my pov contextualizes this one in the frame of the individual as a kind of personification of the whole, so Madonna’s immediate representation of fame is the personification of the concept or role of “celebrity” as a whole … and individual exceptionalism also just registers as a signpost american ideal … maybe just a case of the personal as the political on this one; but I completely see your point variety is the spice of life
