I remember that first it was Alexa. There was a bug or something that when you ask her to play any song from Joanne it would play it. I just don’t remember if it was the full song or a snippet. 

And then people who worked at  stores that had the physical albums started to leak it.

I did listen to it in full a few days before release and also all those 30 sec snippets before that 

But I bought the pshycial album and have streamed it on spotify hundred times so she got my coinz

Doesn't she say some store in Belgium started selling the CD early? I assume after that it would spread quite quickly on twitter. I can't tell you how many random zip files I downloaded back in the day expecting a certain artist's leak only for it to be f*cking ARTPOP as a gag. LMs had a little piracy cabal even with other artists

There are so many things that could be done to prevent an album leaking, sometimes record labels are just asking for it lol. 

1. Don't release it a day earlier in New Zealand.

2. Release it first digitally. Physical copies can be released a week or two after that (so no stores would sell it early)

3. Make sure amazon does their **** right

It was the first album I didn't care to find leak downloads for lol.

The album is awesome don't get me wrong. But with BTW and AP I was actively looking for any early music. With Joanne I didn't mind waiting until the day of.

Yes I did but I honestly don’t think listening to leaks is bad or something. The damage is already done and we can’t do anything about it so why not just give it a listen?Listening is okay if you are planning to buy album anyways IMO..

Joanne leaked because a store in Europe put it out early if I recall correctly and about half the internet messaged the girl who bought the first copy and instagrammed it to go home and rip it for the rest of the world. Which she then did. 

 

If I recall correctly..... does anyone remember ? In my experience we always get it about 2 weeks to 1 week early with the exception of Born This Way (Single)
