Guys she’s just saying she can’t envision herself ten years from now. Relax. I don’t think she meant the 27 “club”.

of course she didn't lol but it's an awful coincidence :messga:

lmao that's what I thought when I was 18 as well, Billie. I wonder what she's going to be like in ten years.

She's really glamorizing depression and suicide, huh. On the one hand, it's her choice so it shouldn't matter to me; on the other hand, she's influencing a lot of young people to choose suicide over getting help. Hm.

I find most of the time she's just very open with her experience and feelings dealing with depression and suicidal ideation and I guess it can sometimes be confused with glamorization or since it's a hard topic it can be easy to use poor word choice

Well, I can remember my generation being just as obsessed with suicide and depression. Cutting wrists like there’s no tomorrow was quite the thing. :huntyga:

In terms of her art, I understand it. But, when it comes to platforms like magazine covers and whatnot, this goes from expression to glamorization. It's like, 'Billie's on the cover of so and so magazine because she's cool. Maybe suicide's cool too?'

Remember when Gaga started being on magazines too? She made weird and gay cool because that's what she stood for. Billie on the other hand stands for a dark and twisted mind.

I'm not bashing her, don't get me wrong. I'm just looking at it at a diferrent perspective.

I know it's not new. It doesn't mean it was right then, too. I wonder how many teens actually killed themselves because of idolizing artists who took their own lives. Again, not bashing. Just pondering.

Mess :toofunny: not only is saying over 27 is old ageist and not cool, but does she really not know about the 27 club and how controversial that is to say?

And girl what you mean you never bought a cd? :neyde: that is going too far

Ageist :ladyhaha: my God. Aren't you generation-ist for judging her for not buying a cd?

and yes, ageism is a thing but this is not it.

Generationist? :neyde: sure, I guess I am lol

And either way, I wasn't being super serious in my comment. If she meant it generally, yes it is an ageist thing to say. But I'm sure she was more talking about herself personally.
