What is the most clever thing Gaga has done?

Taking time off after ARTPOP to overhaul her whole image. As much as I like crazy Gaga, the public was getting bored of her antics. The most shocking reinvention she did was becoming normal. :ladyhaha: She sang old jazz hits, showed off that she was indeed talented, and she made Joanne and starred in A Star is Born.

Everyone thought she would always be crazy but she did the most shocking thing and did the complete opposite. This reignited pubic interest in her and I think this was a great marketing move and very clever overall.

I’m sure you wish you could have done a better job :oprah:

Almost all of these have been done by other artists, and have been done just as well and sometimes better. Volantis, the glow-in-the-dark wig, and the iPod glasses are by far the most clever and inventive things she has done her whole career. Focusing on your vocal talents? Making Joanne? Getting younger people to appreciate older music (which isn’t uncommon btw)? None of this is particularly extraordinary or clever. It’s just what people do. A glow in the dark wig, on the other hand, is clever.

I would say the overuse of avant-grade costumes were actually one of the first bad business and artistic decisions she and her team made at the beginning of her career.

Completely disagree. With The Fame + TFM, Gaga truly had a superstar team of varied creative individuals that not only operated on a higher level but had connections to reputable big name creative's in the art and fashion worlds that made Gaga a rare exception at a time when pop was not colliding with fashion outside of an established reputable act like Madonna or Bjork for instance. Thanks to the likes of Matthew Williams, Willo, and Nicola, Gaga (and to paraphrase matt Williams, 'ye' as well) opened those doors to the fashion world in popular music through their work, in Gaga's case her debut. It was that Ziggy Stardust era that captivated people to pay attention regardless of how polarizing it made her, it wasn't to any degree a fault or "bad" business move. Had everything played out as it should have everything would have evolved fluidly and all that early avant garde preparation would have eventually worked to her greater benefit. But humans are not static and integral creative members of her team bowing out  relatively early on shifted the energy and what we experienced as 'Gaga'.

Bad moves ensued post-TFM in terms of release strategies imo and it was like a snowball effect from there. The rest is history. But clearly she's doing just fine tbh.

Yeah, every pop star famous for electronic music releases jazz album, no joke

They're a post-gaga Madonna stan on a one person mission to argue with the fans as to why she's mediocre. Pretense and pettiness aplenty.

In the beginning of her career where she was using repetition to burn the imagery of her into people’s minds thus becoming a cultural pop icon quite quickly. Of course blonde hair, bangs and sunglasses have been around way before her, same with leotards etc... but because she wore that combination so often (or in different variations) she became associated with it in quite a big “iconic” way.

honestly all of the things she did after ARTPOP era like singing jazz, multiple tributes, making Joanne and A star is born, could potentially sabotage her career, but she manages to do all of them. Not to mention most of her fans back then disagreed her decisions.

she's brave enough to take risks and have enough talent to succeed.

like, you can imagine gaga singing jazz, but can you imagine Norah  Jones singing Just Dance and dancing?

Exactly. Remember when Norah decided she wanted to be a rockstar and no one cared?

And now she can go back to crazyga for LG6:bradley:

She is winning again…. somehow she always stays here. I can’t stand it.

You're just mixing up "original" and "clever".

She put in a blonde wig and called herself Maddie. Played guitar in a band.

Respecting the elders and youth by showing young people how to appreciate older music and older people how to appreciate new music. She has always been honest about her inspirations and she has tributed them like no other.

All true.
