So we go from:

"The critics always eat up anything Bey does"

to:

"Ok the critics didn't eat everything up but she was nominated for awards not given out by critics"

the thing is, spirit isn’t even a commercial song, it was never meant to be a hit I think

I feel like beyoncé has hit a plateau artistically, she’s just not going anywhere creatively now. If LEMONADE was her peak, then this is somewhat the downfall, and don’t be mistaken, I love her, I just view things realistically

Seems like Sia didn’t did her job right :poot:

It’s gonna be a long night for her at the Carter’s basement :bradley:

Funnily how you omitted those 2 Grammy noms of which she won one, but ok. I'm not arguing with you it's got no point. You have your opinion I have mine and I couldn't care less what's yours is.

I think musically The Gift is unlike anything she's ever done but it's true that the way she presented it almost seemed like they were outtakes from Lemonade. The music video for Spirit literally looks like a Lemonade film outtake :air:

She's selling her stuff predominantly to young African-American women now. It's bound to have an effect on the rest of her public. I don't think her public image is affected but I think you're right that people are not that instantly hyped by a Beyoncé release anymore. It's not that the quality of her work is declining but I feel like a lot of people are just like "it's not for me". I mean, she's literally releasing a song about how melanin in your skin makes you beautiful :lmao: She appeared at the Superbowl with Black Panthers symbols :rip: She's just rebranding herself. She's a mom trying to raise kids, she probably doesn't give a **** about pleasing the masses anymore. So I can't help but laugh at the people who are still trying to talk about her career as if she's playing the "please buy my single" game of any basic pop star.

The Grammy's are not critics based though :awkney: Like I said: even Teenage ****ing Dream, the most hated pop album of our generation was nominated for Album of the Year. Like... :air:

If you wanna prove that critics praise her automatically you need to point to critics scores, year-end lists of music publications, etc. etc. Not point to the least credible awards to back up your point :sharon:

I respect your opinion, obviously. But saying critics overrate her is a debatable factual claim and I've perfectly laid out why it's not objective. If all you can bring to the table is two Grammy's that were given to her purely because she dominated the charts that year, then... :rip:

Good god, I didn't though, don't take one sentence out of context :awkney: I'm not saying they're comparable, just that they're both side projects and that anyone who thought they would slay the charts were delusional from the start. That's the only basis of the comparison.

So either read my posts correctly and discuss them or don't mention them at all :madge:

First of all, did I quote you? no right? so you don't get to tell me what I can or cannot mention :huntyga:

And second of all, no one in their right mind thought that TIHTY would chart while the Beyhive was more than confident that "Beyonce"s Lion King soundtrack would outsell ASIB soundtrack in mere weeks. I can show you countless tweets as proof. :huntyga:

this is beyond underperformance.... even if people don't care about this album, it doesn't change the fact that this is a commercial failure :toofunny:
I mean come on, an Beyonce album full of original songs only sold  11,000 in the first week? it's not normal for her standard and her fanbase should be stronger than this:air:

it doesn't mean she will flop with her next project but it truly shows her power declines a bit comparing with her previous albums.
