You're completely right but rape (and the #MeToo movement she also backed a year later) had their origins on feminism, that's why men being raped is today sometimes incorrectly considered as something that's impossible. Feminism is equality of all sexes*, not exclusively women. 1 hour ago, KatieJudasGaga4 said: Wasn't there a recent performance where she implied she still wasn't a feminist and she made up a word. JADJane 6
I lowkey miss Gaga’s old take on feminism. I think popular feminism, and the kind she seems more leaning towards today, has most of its focus on femininity and the power that holds. It’s more so based on the fact that women, especially feminine women, are as important and strong as masculine men, while also creating a clear distinction between men and women (Like the amount of times she generalized how differently men and women think during Joanne/Million Reasons promo). Before, I wanna say her break up with Taylor, she held this more- I’m a woman, but that doesn’t mean anything to me- attitude. Basically, femininity wasn’t something she singled out and valued, and she didn’t let it define her or the way she acted or thought (Remember her porter magazine interview back in 2014 when she said her gender wasn’t important to her). I think this is what I see as true feminism- that your gender shouldn’t be so important that it defines who you are or limits your strengths/weaknesses. Feminism is fighting exclusively for women’s rights and for achieving equality of females and males but it is not that that. It is exclusively fighting for female rights. Males can be femists too but it is not fighting for male rights.
