Lion Heart 15,041 Posted July 25, 2019 Share Posted July 25, 2019 STOCKHOLM (AP) — A Swedish prosecutor has charged rapper A$AP Rocky with assault over a fight in Stockholm last month, in a case that’s drawn the attention of fellow recording artists as well as U.S. President Donald Trump. Rocky, a platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated artist whose real name is Rakim Mayers, has been in custody since July 3 as authorities investigate a fight he was allegedly involved in on June 30 before appearing at a music festival. Prosecutor Daniel Suneson said in a statement Thursday that he filed charges against the artist and two others “suspected of assault causing actual bodily harm, having come to the conclusion that the events in question constitute a crime and despite claims of self-defense and provocation.” The three suspects will remain in custody until trial. He’s not a bad man. If you knew the actual situation, you would realise that he had been pestered and bothered by some randos on the street and him and his team had repeatedly asked them kindly and peacefully to leave them alone. I’m not saying that what he did was right; I’m not supporting #FreeRocky because I think it’s important that celebrities don’t get treated differently from normal civilians, it’s a valuable lesson that all celebs need to learn (*cough* Justin Bieber) BUT I want you all to have some empathy. I could imagine that being followed by paparazzi and being recognised everywhere would be very stressful. It definitely has its effects; we’ve seen many celebrities crack under pressure from the public. And that’s what happened to Rocky. He didn’t breakdown, but this guy was just pushing it and he cracked, and beat up him. Again, it wasn’t the right thing to do and I wish he just called the police, but I want you all to recognise that he’s not a violent person, it was simply a result of it being too much for him, in the moment. I saw someone make an absurd comparison to 6ix9ine in another thread; this is totally different. 6ix9ine has never showed regret for his rape case and consistently promotes gang violence and **** like that.
