Everyones entitled to their opinions, but I can't help but feel that the Marina fans that claim to dislike Blue or think its one of the weaker songs on the album are really just trying to be contrary because its obviously one of, if not the most, accessible song on the record. Its like they're writing it off as top 40 fodder or something. And yes its accessible, but its also well written and simply very infectious. Its easily one of her best pop songs imo.

Tbh, I can't listen to Blue in full. I find it to be kind of dull and boring, it just doesn't captivate me.

It's so weird that Blue is polarizing. :emma:

I am actually surprised so many people like Blue, personally I think Blue is filler material. :emma:

The only song I view as filler material is Gold. I absolutely adore half of the album (Happy, Froot, I'm A Ruin, Blue, Solitaire, and Savages). The rest I'm pretty indifferent to. I feel like this album is just a transition for Marina, not her magnum opus. I'm so excited to see where this leads her.

Do we know if she is doing anymore videos this era? I would really love one for Happy.

I think she would have done a video for Happy when she initially released it. I think the live performance is the most we'll get. It kind of bothers me that it's the only FOTM along with Gold that doesn't have a music video. :emma:

I'm apparently one of the very few who absolutely adore "Gold":emma:

I really like it. Anyone with ears would recognize that Immortal is maybe the worst but on par with Weeds

I know Marina has stated that with Electra Heart was going for a "Gothic Britney" but I feel like it was more of a dark Teenage Dream. Maybe it's just because of the production/presentation? I love both albums, just wanted to see what you guys think. :gaycat:

She could be Gothic Britney living ha Teenage Dream. After eating too much dark chocolate and emo candies, she became vegetarian and started to eat Froot. :pole:

The only logical explanation for why Blue would seem like filler material to someone is because they're deciding to be contrarians since its clearly the most accessible song on the record.

Imo Weeds, Gold, and Forget are filler tracks. They're all in-offensive and pleasant enough but each one felt like she was holding back quite a bit. All 3 of those songs are lacking something.

Blue is pop perfection, one of her most successful attempts at making a pure pop song.

I don't think Immortal is the worst. I feel like anyone with ears couldn't possibly stand to listen to Better Than That. I mean that song is just dull ugliness. Weeds is a total bore as well.

Immortal is like....whatever. I don't mind it, it doesn't bother me, but I forget its even playing. It kind of just sadly drifts along until it ends.

I loved this review but Radioactive being their favorite Marina song? Mess. :sweep:

Radioactive is one of her best pop songs imo and her best video.

Lmao, I have no idea how it's accessible? It's on par with Gold as filler material, Forget is way more pop and catchy than Blue could ever dream to be. Imo, I'm a Ruin is the most pop/catchy on the record. If it wasn't sung by an UK indie artist with no attempts to have ah heavy promo pop career, this could easily smash.

Weeds just feels so tuneless. She said there were other tracks and I wonder what made her pick that over what was left on the cutting room floor

Forget has the laziest chorus, "Forget eh eh eh et For geh eh eh eh et Forge eh eh eh et" and she sings it so sleepily. Theres like no emotion in that song. Not to mention it just sounds like a b-side from The Family Jewels sans all the quirkiness that made that album pass for interesting. Blue is infectious and builds on itself and has dimensions. Its not just flat like Gold or Forget. I'm A Ruin and Blue are the two clear Top 40 contenders on this album.

You need to get your ears checked. Theres clearly something wrong with your hearing.
