Gaga's been talking about her art in this way since TF and TFM. All of the music Gaga makes is "art pop" to an extent. This perspective of art isn't anything new or unique to Marina. You could trace it to Warhol, and even he was influenced by others. Many artists who make music view pop culture in this way. Gaga simply had the most success with channeling this worldview in her music and art.

 

Also, Applause sounds nothing like Scab and Plaster. Scab and Plaster is indie-pop while Applause is dance-pop, and both have different structures and instrumentation. Even Marina didn't think Scab and Plaster was good enough to release. You couldn't pick a worse song to compare, you're better off saying Applause sounds like Fear and Loathing. 

 

Can these "copy" comparisons stop. I love Marina's music, but I'd be surprised if Gaga even knew who Marina is. She's had moderate success outside of the UK, and she is still underground in many ways.

Okay, yes, this is just one direction, and that is just one song, but Applause does have striking similarities, and a few fans of both Marina and Gaga have stated this.

Gaga stating she is curious of what goes on during the cameras rolling, the difference of what is a real moment is verses a staged moment, natural vs. made-up, character vs. real…

And trust me, I have been looking into what Gaga has been saying as well, and as it does relate to what she is portraying, so of course this message with her work fits in.

And I do understand that all types of ideas had to come from somewhere, thus it is hard to tell who absolutely came up with what first.

This is what is making me suspicious.

I'm sorry if it does seem like I am attacking Gaga, because to be honest, I appreciate her creativity, her open mind, and she has made a fantastic name for herself.

And she has her way to her own creativity, and she will share that with others.

THAT is one of the many things I appreciate about Gaga.

However, after a few listens to the Applause single and looking at how Gaga has teased ARTPOP thus far, it just seems a bit suspicious to me she is trying to take over Marina's name.

And if any of you are able to state her appreciation for Marina Diamandis, then I will be quiet.

Oh I like it too :)  But it would have been amazing to have the funeral-esque vibe incorporated into the song itself a bit more seamlessly, underscoring the danciness of it to give it a continuously ominous vibe :king:

Am I the only here who doesn't care about that Electra Heart personas/theories? Like I don't care about who Marina is portraying on each track off EH and I'm just enjoying the music.

but that's the whole point behind Electra Heart, the character and what it represents (of course it was also Marina's "excuse" to make more pop/commercial songs and be succesful)
