ARTPOP is a confusing masterpiece

So I'm on my winter break from college and I have been listening to ARTPOP for the last few days and wowwww what a masterpiece :firega:. It got me thinking why it didn't grab my attention when it was first released (I was very much a local in 2013 :ladyhaha:). So I began to think about when my perception on the album began to change, and it was when I started to watch interviews of gaga explaining the album. The concept of ARTPOP is just so confusing my god, but once you understand all the references it's great. All gaga albums before that, I feel, had a very simple message to understand. Ex:The fame: Feeling famous even when you're not:flower:. Born this way: Accepting yourself:pawsup:..... and gaga would explore those concepts very deeply in the album but you could always understand the core intention. ARTPOP was just so many ideas at once. The whole my ARTPOP could mean anything, Reverse Warholian experience,.... and like, they are all great concepts once you understand them all but you need to be very invested in the gaga world to even bother trying. So I was thinking to myself, was there a way gaga could've explained ARTPOP better? Was I just a dumb 14 year old that didn't understand the album? ( That probably is the truth tbh :saladga:). Also I'm not hating on AP at all, I love the album, I just find it funny how my old local self was so confused by it lmfao.

ARTPOP is one of her modt cohesive bodies of work. Almost all songs link back to a main concept but few appreciate it

Born This Way on the other hand is more disjointed on its thematics IMHO

The Fame Monster is her most cohesive to date

It's kind of a mess, but i think it's probably one of the times she was most creative.

i admire it for that, also has some great songs in it.

To me it is her only album that takes you on a journey from start to finish and feels like every song is in place and has to be there. It is a masterpiece :tony:

Yesss it's super cohesive! I just think the delivery of the concept was just very confusing if you were not that invested in gaga's narrative. I agree that BTW can be messy at times but the message of the album was clear even if you just heard btw once....
