People need to stop being so rude to the OP. They literally just posted a piece of news from an interview.

Who cares, we all know that Gaga only changed a few words probably to that song but in the end, she was the one who produced the song and sang it. If it wasn't for Gaga, probably nobody would have known about this song

it kinda worries me how Gaga isnt really writing her songs (anymore?)

makes me question how much she is involved in writing generally, since we know she also only changed a few words for PI and CTM

Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride

We kind of knew that though, didn't we? Till It Happens To You was written by Diane and then given to Gaga for the film, right? She never claimed she wrote it, maybe changed a few words here or there and got a credit but, yeah, it's Diane's song

And that’s why I’m happy it didn’t win that Oscar. Shallow was the right one.

I was ready to quote and get defensive until I read that last line.

Funny thing is I dont even like TIHTY, I'm just a messy twitter gay at heart :huntyga:

Gaga really looked desperate in that situation, imo. She really shouldn't have tried taking the credit for what wasn't hers.

Who cares, really? Ok it's a beautiful song, but quite frankly I'm not even sure it's in my top 30 Gaga songs :triggered: Artists exaggerate writing and producing credits all the time for various reasons.

So that makes it okay? Hell no.

Gaga elevated the song with her live performances but the song itself was nothing special, it sounded dated.

No but in an oscars standpoint it does negate her eligibility for that song. Donna summers last dance won an Oscar and I’m sure made it her own but she doesn’t get credited for that win

I mean it's possible that Gaga just changed a few words, which was the original allegation, and Diane didn't want to acknowledge changing a few words and the music as co-writing which implies an almost equal amount of work. That would still make her eligible, and frankly a lot of big stars have done the same thing on occasion (Beyonce, RIhanna, Katy, etc.). Linda Perry has accused multiple people of "not" writing in the past, so I always took her with a grain of salt but Diane's more trustworthy.

But this was dumb and shady of Diane. She was more powerful than Gaga at the time—Gaga was coming off ARTPOP and this was before the Superbowl and Joanne, too.  Diane's even more arguably powerful than Gaga now, too. If she didn't want to give Gaga writing credit, then she shouldn't have given Gaga writing credit. Don't play games five years later and give half shady answers, especially when she's called Gaga a good friend multiple times in the past and was very complimentary of her during Oscar season. I honestly wonder if she's a bit salty that she lost another Oscar, because she did seem a bit bitter during the season when she acknowledged that Shallow was going to win.

Maybe it would have won the Oscar if Gaga would have written the entire thing. :reductive:

The Oscar winning “Shallow” says hi.

Jk. Why are Ru and Michelle digging so hard?

Gaga was coming off ARTPOP  and this was before Joanne/Superbowl/AHS. If anything, Diane was far more powerful than Gaga at the time. She may not sing, but Diane has tons of powerful friends and myriad awards and huge influence.

If she didn't want to give Gaga credit for changing a few words and melodies (and remember, that was the o.g. accusation that she barely did anything...not that she didn't do anything) then she shouldn't have given Gaga credit. Diane's not some low key artist with no power, and she worked with Gaga after that mess and has called her a good friend multiple times. If anything, I think it's shady for Diane to imply ish 5  years later.

Doesn't Michelle throw low key, passive aggressive shade at a lot of people?  I feel like she's come for Rihanna and Miley before, but in an underhanded way as to not alienate them or have it turn into a story if she wants them on Drag Race.

I love them but this was so unnecessary. Just trying to create drama I guess.
